That. You have just justified it's continued inflictance on the rest of us...You ought to meet some of the arse wipes that write the adverts-I'd like to punch seven shades of stuff out of them, as well as those in the companies that approve the rubbish before broadcast.
I only mention this as my ex-missus was a copywriter for a rather large advertising agency that employed the most obnoxious people in the World (including her).

I find the adverts very annoying, I think they should get some sort of animal and use that as a mascot. Say a Meerkat, and whenever someones buys insurance through them they should give them a soft toy version of the mascot! That'd work so much better, and everyone wants a Meerkat toy!!

Clever that the kids can tug on the folks heart strings influencing a 'grown up' decision.idibbers said:

a lot better than brian the stupid robot, and a lot better than the new landofgogogocompare or whatever it is. I much preferred the tenor singing go compare.
but nothing compares to compare the markets adverts with the meerkats, they've struck gold with that one.
still when it comes to actually using a comparison site, i use gocompare, since thats the first one i used and it seems fine, so why change!

A trite line that gets trotted out every time someone comments on an advert negatively. To take it to the extreme, say Ford ran an ad showing a horrific car crash of a Focus killing everyone inside (for some reason). You'd remember it, know what it's for and maybe even start a thread about it.
So would it therefore have 'done its job' as an advert in your opinion?
The actual 'job' of an advert is to sell. Just being memorable isn't enough.

I think the gocompare adverts have now jumped the shark.a lot better than brian the stupid robot, and a lot better than the new landofgogogocompare or whatever it is. I much preferred the tenor singing go compare.

If an advert pisses me off I will actively avoid using their services if I can remember who it is advertising - these days I don't see many adverts as most are sped through on Sky+
I wanted to smash that fking robot to bits with a hammer.
I've only recently stepped inside a Salinsburys after seeing their terrible advert before that used the deaths of millions during world war 2 to market their brand.
The frustration comes from how patronising they are - as if they think I'm so fking stupid that I will fall for their "message" - but I guess most TV adverts are aimed at the easily led?
The latest gambling one aimed at convincing people that losing your bet doesn't matter because "it's only a few quid" blew my mind! CAn they really get away with that?
