I didn't get that connection. What I did get with the reveal at was a similarity to Ghost Stories, the 2017 film which was directed by Jeremy Dyson, the 4th League of Gentlemen man. Yes I do realise that this is now a spoiler for that film if you haven't seen it, but watch that too, it's good.. I did think it was a great episode though.
