Harris always seems to be deliberately sycophantic to towards Lovett to me. The latter has a lot of form for ruffling feathers but they’ll be back.
They're both West Country but Millfield trumps Clifton and Ed's dad trumps Harris'. There's a natural order. biggrin

And people are getting sick of that supposed natural order in so many areas when it's abused.

Not saying it's the case here, a more general comment.

40 year old subordinate public school boys are well versed in being abused though. wink

I’m now wondering how the Collecting Cars business is going. It seems strange to stop all Utube activity which I would have thought was important to generate interest in the auctions. Cazoo has gone into administration so the sector obviously has its challenges at the moment.

I don't get the impression they spent much on the podcast though. I know the YouTube videos obviously had a professional crew and associated cost.

Agree they weren’t spending much on the production of the podcast, certainly not the sound equipment, but that does assume they were all doing it for free. If the podcast is promoting the CC business they may not be prepared to do that forever.

I know they have certainly scaled back their international efforts.

With regards to the YouTube stuff, if Harris is off the table with his BBC filming then they haven’t really got anyone else to present.

It is a little odd that they went all out announcing Harris’s content was now exclusive to CC and now he was free of Top Gear he was going to producing much more and yet…

That'll be the falling out. laugh

CH (hypothetically) said to EL he's back full time for CC "dontyouworryson" and now he's gone off and signed a deal with BBC to do a crappy augmented reality* tv show which means less time for CC

In terms of the the future prospects of CC. Perhaps a look at their Trust pilot reviews will guide...

*A TV producer told me that was the official term years ago.

Ed should have just out bid the BBC for the talent then. Not exactly difficult to stump up what the bbc would have been offering.

Harris has bills to pay, children to educate and to be honest, being sent off with a Northern buffoon to enjoy a raft of overseas hospitality in exchange for reading out a few lines seems a lot more fun than doing a podcast with some geezer who used to work at Foxtons. biggrin

I suspect the rift theory isn’t entirely without merit. On a recent podcast EL declared that Richard Tuthill had made him angry, which is a peculiar thing for an adult to say even more so on a podcast. RT is a good friend of Harris so it did seem especially odd.

Harris will be getting anywhere between £30K and 100K for that series! Remember Clarkson, May and Hammond were on £25K per show at the height

Due to the "unique way the BBC is funded" and as its basically civil servants running the show. They overpay massively as it doesn't matter, there's no budget restrictions when the license fee goes up every year!

That's the thing, they don't overpay at all. Clarkson had various rights over the show. CH is just a hire, at a pretty low level and because it's the BBC they don't have to pay as much as the commercial businesses because of the big career prospects that come from getting a bbc gig.

I doubt he was paid much at all by the bbc until the last series. And just as it looks like he's about to finally start earning some good money the right gets pulled and the poor bloke has to switch to making ends meet by selling cars. A fun gig but nowhere near the prospects of proper TV work and what that can lead on to.

The real money via the bbc appears only if you're already a household name and can bring eyeballs from the competition or if you manage to negotiate show rights. Otherwise they aren't paying folks the money that is always made out.

I doubt you'd even need to offer much at all for someone who isn't currently on TV, has taken a big income knock and is plodding along back doing car videos? And if by some baffling stroke of random luck he's getting anything close to Paddy then good luck to him, he deserves it.

I hope the show does well and they want to do another and hopefully a benefit to being in partnership with Paddy is that Paddy has contracts and contacts elsewhere which should help get them both a good deal.

According to Harris' agent, he owns CC - https://www.mcsaatchimerlin.com/person/chris-harri...

That's not the only incorrect 'fact' on there though.

Trying not to sound like a tt, I thought that was fairly common knowledge; around here at least.

If you listen to the podcast where Ted is interviewed, I think Harris closes the conversation with something like 'cheers boss', I had wondered if that was intentional or just using 'boss' like your local takeaway restaurant might.

Presumably you mean the podcast from the Chris Harris talks cars era that was broadcast some 7 or 8 months before Ted was appointed according to the companies house info.

Unless there's another podcast that's been missed.
