Managed to avoid most of it but had to endure that last 30 minutes or so. The things that stood out for me were the set design was fabulous and the female commentator telling us which country was up next for their numbers was truly truly fking appalling…..

Was that the woman mumbling over the top of the voting announcements? Dreadful

The semi final performance is IMHO worse if you listen to it on YouTube. More strength and volume but a lot of tone and pitch issues, she can’t just hit the vocal notes to match the studio version. The quiet volume of the final performance may if anything have been the event producers trying to mask how poor she is vocally.

I’d assume the studio version was auto tuned to correct her vocal pitch issues and Eurovision require performers to actually sing live on the night without digital correction, hence it not sounding good at all.

Why pick a singer that isn’t strong live? I’d guess and speculate that the BBC didn’t want to win it and have to host again. Something good enough to not come bottom but also not stand a chance of fluking a win was IMHO the objective.
I like the way that avoiding winning and having to host Eurovision multiple times has become a trope in itself, see Father Ted and his lovely horse, and the Eurovision/Fire Saga movie.

It makes sense when you see some of the acts being put forward!

For sure. Mel is crap. It is a different gravy when Graham is commentating for definite.
That Mel woman was grating. Calling it "Euovish" and saying Sweden were going to have to give another "perf". And would she shut up?
Her commentary was crap but her milk churning was first class.

I don't much like it but it's not about what we think. I'm already looking forward to the event.

It’s not a song I would listen too, but does sound like a Eurovision song, so who knows how it will do.
Not a fan of Olly he’s one weird person.

I thought last years so was so much more ….
