Mrs Chimp has never watched any of the following:

Any of the Rocky films
Any Indiana Jones film
Any Jurassic Park

I feel compelled to have a marathon watching weekend to let her catch up biggrin

Also, the giant eagles thing. fking seriously, they could have solved the whole story in the first hour.
They couldn't. There are probably essays somewhere to explain it.
dont happen to have a 3 line summary as to why do you? was genuinely pretty much the first thing I said when I finished the books for the first time 28 years ago!

never seen The Godfather, intend to at some point

I actually feel quite sorry for people who say "i really don't like x genre of films at all' I'm yet to find one which doesn't include some really enjoyable films. id hate to have missed Groundhog day because i decided i cant stand romcoms or Aliens because its sci-fi.

I've never really watched the Alien trilogy. Well, I've seen the films in my youth but can't recall much. Except that Lance Henriksen was a Grade A badass of some sort.

Just got around to watching the first one I think I may know why I haven't watched them yet. I must've been subconsciously mentally scarred. Properly scary stuff!

Saw this thread pop back up in My Stuff and sought an answer to the eagles plot hole. Here are the thoughts of some guy:

Not seen Shindlers List or Raging Bull, just don't interest me. I have seen every other film mentioned on this thread

I don't enjoy horror films. I have watched enough to know its not for me. I like a few though I like Christine but is probably a bit tame for out and out horror. I did like Event Horizon but that was mainly due to sci-fi bit.

Blade Runner for me.
Not sure why other than it never seems to be on tv which is where I see most films.

yeah fair enough actually - sounds reasonable! Though doesn't gandalf send a moth (butterfly/bird/turtle/cant remember) to get one of the eagles to rescue him from Draculas tower? This suggest a mobile communications network which could have been further used to me!

yeah good point - though that feels different to me somehow....though now I write that I cant think exactly how in my head! that genre has some very specific issues I would say, as opposed to any other....hmm....i think ill just step away from this now actually!

You don't need an essay, there was a chuffing great burning laser beam eye thing on a tower... they only showed it 376 times throughout the trilogy....

Its has been on tv recently (BBC 2). They always have the Directors Cut.
I sit down and prepare myself to watch it, think "Oh, not got time I will record it" and thats that.

Still have Clockwork Orange to watch. It was shown on TV two or three years back and its still on Sky +.

LOTH. We both have tried so hard to watch it. But when the first one came out, it gave miles of star-wars type writing to give it atmosphere (I suppose). We looked at each other, I got up, and turned it off.

The Eagles - I personally think they were aholes really, they all knew it so they didn't ask hehe

On topic - I've never seen the Godfather films, Citizen Kane, Battleship Potenkin (sp), A clockwork orange or 12 Angry Men.

The Godfather doesn't appeal - I've tried the book, but couldn't get on with that either...

Make yourself ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Braveheart - have seen so many clips, I can't be arsed to sit down and watch a film where I have seen all the important bits.

As for LOTR eagle thing, the "good" side did not really have the needed force to simply battle there way to mount doom, they needed to sneak the ring in.......fly a big feck off eagle in plain sight is not exactly sneaking, and would have been met with considerable force long bbefore they got close to mount Doom.

I think we need to define what an 'Epic film' is...

M.
Agreed. Just because it's a really good film doesn't make it 'EPIC!'

My interpretation of EPIC would be Ben Hur. It's lengthy, a really good yarn, massive cast and great cinematography. Perfect.

And Wayne's World. I really like Wayne's World.
