New TDC video tonight on an abandoned X5.

Seems a bit random, but fun to see them tackle a new car. I hope they don't fall into the AA trap of having tons of unfinished projects around the place.

No doubt this X5 ends up being sold between Taylor / Rory etc... at some point hehe

Why would someone try to buy a car from the USA in Iraqi dinars, they would be better off trying to use one of those crypto currencies for a scam surely?
They were buying the cars in US dollars.

The scam was that they used US dollars to buy foreign currencies and bonds that were supposed to increase exponentially in value after a future event. That money would then be converted back to US dollars.

The investments they purchased were effectively worthless.

I see that our comrade 'Lincoln Lovin' from the 'Project 40' channel has acquired the supercharged Z3 from the AutoAlex entourage, which I always thought was one of the more interesting cars they've featured recently.

Although I thought the idea for YTers was to buy shoddy cars biggrin

It's like trickle-down economics for youtubers. Buy a car from an established channel when they are bored with it, splash their name all over the video descriptions and thumbnails, hope it brings in some views.

The car ticked a lot of boxes, after the Cayenne I wanted something a little more track focused. I also missed having a convertible. Taylor’s car also being a new marque and supercharged meant I could tick a few more things off the bucket list.

As to whether buying a car from an established YouTuber gives the channel a big bump in views, that’s harder to say at the moment. Currently is tracking pretty normally, though that may change once impressions increase (currently only 1.8k).

It’s a deeply silly car, and I’m really looking forward to doing some track days soon.

Did it come with a supply of drive belts laugh

hehe yes Taylor supplied one just in case.

Considering all the mods the car has, the drive belt was that was the one thing I was worried about on the first drive home. So far it seems to be fine, but I check it regularly

New TDC vid seems to be doing well, 133k views in 16 hours. Good on them.

Good luck with the project! smile I don't know about buying a car from an established YouTube channel but I can say that my ZR-1 being on Jonny Smith's channel took me from around 700 subs to 12,000 in less than 24hrs (!) - I'm now on 18k+ and still growing so it helps for sure... What's your YT channel called? I'll check out your vids smile

I could tell within seconds this was a complete waste of time.

Surprise, surprise they just gave up and bought another X5.

Why does it bother you? A stranger tried to fix up his car, deemed it uneconomical to sort and so got himself something better. SCANDALOUS!!

I hope so - Like loads of smaller channels your videos are just as good as the big boys but it's very hard to fuel the algo' !

Thank you, that’s very kind.

The algo connects viewers with videos (rather than creators with viewers), so it’s just a case of my content not really meshing with a larger audience so far. Or at least that’s my viewpoint, this is why I wanted to experiment with a more popular brand (BMW) to see if that made a measurable difference.

Although I started following your channel as you featured a more unusual hot hatch (the Punto) but I can see why it probably would be less interesting to others.

The Punto is a very niche car and provided me with my first lesson “Just because you find it interesting, doesn’t mean other people will.” Perhaps it would have been a better car for later in the channels life, where people would be more invested in the story. But I think any car would have had the same trajectory as a new channel, getting impressions is always going to be a challenge when you are starting out.

Speaking of my multi yellow hot hatch, the punto is off for rust repair on Friday, hopefully the bill won’t be too bad.

Unsubscribed a few weeks back as I could see how the channel was going to pan out, no surprises with another BMW project

And it's going to live on via Taylor.

Sure, it's a shame for the 'story' that it didn't come to life.. but these are youtubers in a shed, not Hollywood.
