I like HBO, and have sky plussed this on that reason.
But it's about handegg. The vast majority of programmes from the USA about handegg assume that everyone else is nuts about it.
I wanna give it a shot but the sport puts me off.
Don't worry, I'm not a gridiron fan at all and still think it's great.. It's more about the characters and small town USA. There's some gorgeous eye candy in it too (albeit barely legal, although the actresses are older than the characters they play!)But it's about handegg. It's awesome
I've just watched the first series on DVD and it's brilliant!
The thing I find that's good about it is that I actually identify with the characters, something most US dramas don't manage to do.
Not sure where it's up to on Sky Atlantic, but the episode before the penultimate one is probably the best of the bunch, and well worth waiting for.

watched the pilot last night and it was good. Reminded me of varsity blues a bit though. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0139699/
Another vote for this. Top rate stuff.
I have a passing understanding of Football due to Ch4 coverage over a decade ago and a good tactical game I had on my Amiga
I got into this series because I'd only recently seen Any Given Sunday which was absolutely stunning (and again, doesn't need that much of an understanding).
