Dear m,
me and Mrs Noise watched this. From start to finish. Dear reader we were appalled. Had we unbeknownst dropped into a time machine to the early '70s?
I fear the programme only existed from an "Is it because I is moslem" perspective and PC gorn mad at the BBC wouldn't allow them to apply any editorial criticism.
That said the situation with the niquab - nun habit transformation was a good idea as others have observed,
regards,
Jet

On the bad TV scale how many Little Miss Jocelyns do you rate it?
Is the LMJ scale linear or logarithmic? If logarithmic I'd say 1LMJ.

seen the ad for it - was not entertained
spike milligan did a similar series many moons ago
it was taken off for being racist/poking fun at Pakistanis - IIRC
Nailed it, this is why it's 10x as bad as LMJ. It's a "look at those funny Pakistanis and their funny habits". And it's created by a cricket fan, shame. It makes On the Buses look post modern. Did Goodness Gracious Me air for nothing?spike milligan did a similar series many moons ago

I saw the trailer and have never wanted to see a programme less. It looked like a really bad 70s sitcom and I also can't help feeling that, were the characters white, it wouldn't have got a look in.
Mind you, I see they are bringing back Open All Hours for Christmas - probably one to also avoid.

I find it strange that Father Ted is lauded, yet this is severely criticised because of the religious subject matter.
I think it is crap because it is poorly scripted and poorly acted, not because of the subject matter. Father Ted was well scripted and well acted.
There was no religion in Father Ted, despite the basic premise.I think it is crap because it is poorly scripted and poorly acted, not because of the subject matter. Father Ted was well scripted and well acted.
