Discussion
My OH is a big Archers fan so we (the rest of the family) have to listen to it too. We had a discussion about the Eastenders style storylines and she admitted that she is getting a bit fed up with the direction they are now taking it. The Roy/Elizabeth storyline is pretty far fetched and it wont take much more for her to stop listening ![woohoo](/inc/images/woohoo.gif)

Tonight was utterly brilliantly done. I've slowly listened less and less throughout the "Helen & Rob" storyline, as it was so well developed and acted I was beginning to find it uncomfortable to listen to at times. That level of insidious abuse developed as a storyline almost in real time is deeply unsettling I found. I didn't listen tonight until I saw some comments on Twitter, so I just listened on catch up. Glad I did, one of the best episodes I've heard in recent times.
Been cringing as this Rob-Helen thing has played out, 30 years ago my lovely friend Pauline was in a similar situation. It broke my heart watching her change from vibrant young woman to dead-eyed drudge in about 18 months. She finally got rid of the creep (no knives involved) and went to live in a horse drawn caravan with a bloke she really loved. Still together and housed normally and blissfully happy. A happy outcome.
I think the snideness of Rob has been done brilliantly because looking back that was what Paulines bloke was (joyfully I cannot remember his name at all, hoorah!) I can see him now though, snidey little git crushed her. If I had my time again knowing what I know now I'd have jumped in with both feet rather than just tentatively dipping my toe for a year.
