Hmm.
Why is it so dark?
Too many characters. Couldn't they all wear a very large letter of the alphabet on their chests, and then have a character list in the Telegraph, so that we could see that, say, "F" is the young bloke suspected of killing "D" and is married to "C", but is also carrying on with "G". That would be helpful.
I think this would be very useful, especially for these programmes filmed in Scotland, where you can't understand what they are saying anyway.

Second episode was quite good, some literal and metaphorical hole-digging going on.
But I didn't get the part where they were dealing with the stolen car - which looked in remarkably good condition considering what happened to it in the first episode. They've got a tracked excavator, but once the hole has been dug they all strain to push the car in instead of just using the excavator, having first put the body in the passenger seat and been careful to deposit as many fingerprints on the car as possible. Then the young guy grabs a shovel, as if he's about to start filling the hole in, again without using the excavator. And how the police drove up the long winding driveway without noticing the big gap in the fence that they'd hurriedly shoved some newly-broken branches in, is beyond me.
Still, scenery looks good and makes me look forward to the next series of Hinterland.

Agree with Droop, Also annoyed me when they heard people outside the barn.... Why didn't 1 or 2 go and check it out, Not suspicious at all they all coming out of an empty barn together.
As for the Lexus, Surely could have squashed the roof down a bit? The dragged it in with the digger.

I thought it was a bit obvious after the sister saw the beard bloke telling the groom he was going to hell at the end of last weeks show. Of the four, I thought the final one was the weakest episode really, as it seemed to drag everything out to fill the hour. Good overall as a series, but a bit downhill at the end.

The journey more interesting than the destination. Seems to be more prevalent these days, or is it just me? But then, real life doesn't always end up neatly wrapped with a bow on it, so why should dramas?p1doc said:
did you really think dad was going to arrange murder of kids?
Sorry, no, not that bit. I'd almost forgotten that, as there was so much recapping going on. But that was a bit weird - he arranged for the murder of the man, the girl shouldn't have come back so shouldn't have been killed, but she was carrying the child of what it turned out was her brother, which probably wouldn't have had a good outcome. And a bit far-fetched that the random druggie he encountered didn't just take the £1500 and leg it.Policewoman was a bit of a loose end - I was half-expecting the guy she'd sold the drugs to would have some kind of other link to the story, it's not as if that part of things made any difference to how she dealt with the main case other than being a bit distracted from time to time.
agree with pretty much everything said so far. I enjoyed watching it as it was well shot and was quite interesting storyline. but far too much other stuff going on in the background, that either didn't make sense or didn't really add to the overall story:
- policewoman drugs thing
- daughter/ sister nursey person helping the old dear die
- the random farm hand and his mrs
- the random junkie being hired for a botched hit
ultimately I just liked the scenery and locations, I live in Edinburgh and it was all filmed in and around town. actually the initial drug deal (buying the acid) was filmed in the tunnel to my local Tesco 200m from where I stay.

There was also the "stalking the girlfriend's rapist" sub-plot.- policewoman drugs thing
