TV licence - have I missed something

so it costs £145.00 odd quid right. fine.

I want to pay by direct debit every month. I should get 12 months of viewing for my £145.00 right?

So why is it that they want to charge me £145.00 over 6 months, then start again in January ?

I see. so they want to charge me the cost of one years licence over 6 months - thats ok. I just wondered why they then wanted to charge me for another licence after I had paid for the first and only got 6 months use out of it!
