Just looking through the tv guide and thought is there another country that has a broadcaster in the same vein as the BBC?
It has 5 tv channels (albeit one is BBC HD) with regional news and political programmes and dozens of radio stations from Radio 1 through to the small regional stations.
Also it's content is often called world class.
Is there a broadcaster with such a huge range and diverse national coverage?

I didn't think so.
Is it because the BBC was the first?

Thanks for all the interesting information guys.
But do any of the other state broadcasters have such a wide range of channels, tv and radio and have all the regional stuff too.

What are you angling for? If you want my opinion they produce some fine dramas and the F1 coverage is good but far too often their documentaries and political programmes are so blatantly biased towards the left that they are laughable. Question Time is a classic example. Likewise they have recently decided they no longer need present the alternative opinion on Global Warming because "the majority" agree that it's MMGW. Green/Left bias in the extreme.
Not after anything politiacal, just interested in the range of broadcasts and stations from one company in other countries.
