What are your top 10 movies of all time? Just thought it would be interesting to see if I have missed any hidden “gems”. Mine in no particular order would be:

Gladiator
The Shawshank Redemption
Hot Fuzz
The Hangover Part 1
Casino Royale (Daniel Craig version)
The Usual Suspects
Batman: The Dark Knight (although all the Christian Bale Batman films are excellent)
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (although the first one is good too)
The Italian Job (“proper” original version)
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Which films narrowly missed the cut? I like The Inbetweeners Movie and am glad that it got made but I think the TV series was funnier. Maybe also one of the F&F films. Not for the plot or acting but enjoyable for what they are but can’t decide which one I like best. The last three were probably better than the first three (maybe Fast Five)?

I feel genuinely robbed that I knew the twist of The Usual Suspects before I watched it.
Someone telling me what happened at the end of Skyfall before I had seen it ruined it a bit for me too! Have you seen The Sixth Sense yet?

How can nobody have mentioned the Godfather?

And Hot Fuzz? Almost the worst thing I've ever actually watched from start to finish, second only to Shaun of the Dead.
Not a Sean Pegg fan then! I like comedies but never find them as amusing once I get to the 3rd/4th/5th viewing. Hot Fuzz and The Hangover are the only exceptions to this. I used to live near Wells, Somerset (where the bulk of Hot Fuzz was filmed), so maybe that's part of it and it looked like they had so much fun shooting it! Yes it's a bit cheesy but the shootout at the end is quality and I think subliminally the very last scene where they answer the 999 call in the Impreza WRX led me to go out and buy one several years later!

Never had the patience to make it through the Godfather to be honest!

I stand by my top 10 but when I think about it more carefully, there are lots more that could have easily been in there.

Rain Man
A Few Good Men
Mission: Impossible
Ocean's Eleven (modern version)
Old School (another great comedy)

...and one to watch with the kids: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (although I still even now find the childcatcher a bit scary)!
