Walking Dead Series 4 - spoilers will get their brains eaten
Discussion
There's been a lot of chat about the fourth installment on the series 3 thread, but seeing as it starts on Sunday and Friday in the UK, I thought it was time for its own thread!

Looking forward to this "new threat" and more "menacing" zombies.

I liked LotD zoms, didn't think they were silly. But I did not like the acceptance at the end, and the zoms just sort of giving up.
It was a cool thing in its own right (bar the giving up). But it was disappointing for me considering it was a Romero film.LoTD trivia: Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have cameos as zoms.

Indeed, I just watched a perfectly good HD copy. It was cracking.
As requested will keep mouth shut about it till UK airing as OP has requested. Suppose we could use the old WD thread if we wanted to chat now?
I didn't request anything, was just saying what I'll do. As requested will keep mouth shut about it till UK airing as OP has requested. Suppose we could use the old WD thread if we wanted to chat now?
Personally I don't mind spoiler tags, the only negative is if a spoilered post is at the top of the page, it takes a second for it to cover.
I'm very pleased with the first episode.
Mainly because of the action alongside dialogue, which in my opinion has the correct balance of action-speaking/character development.
This new threat: as stated could be airborne. That would be very interesting. Personally I think it's going to be a recurring theme. Whether the virus itself has mutated, or it's just a disease from the pigs, either way, I can't see the writers putting this type of thing in even half the episodes,
I didn't notice this myself (had a few beers) but Rick stares at the same zombie at the end of the episode as he did at the beginning. An article I read pointed out this shows the continual threat of what's around them.
Not a groundbreaking observation of course, but interesting I think.

The zombie with the bugged out eyes freaked me out. It was properly disturbing, A + to the man who did that make up. I enjoyed the first episode of this season however the constant commercial breaks every 5 minutes gets very old very quick and makes viewing quite unenjoyable, breaking up the story far too often. Also, I felt the entire scene(s) with Rick and the woman in the woods was weak and boring. Like filler garbage for the sake of nothing at all. It just felt very out of place, and there was no real pay off due to not showing the womens husbands head in the basket.
I love the effort that goes into the makeup for this. So far so good, even though it's early days, it looks like they're continuing the staggered stages of decomposition as time in the show goes on. Good stuff.
I agree about the woman, I was hoping there were going to be a group of cannibals where she was leading Rick to, but no.
Still, it's better than massive amounts of boring, st speeches at the farm!
