MP states the obvious that they have been too scred to say before

I would say that 4 is too many though. Make it 2, as we can't sustain the population that we already have!

I suspect she chose four in order to deflect the inevitable attacks that will ensue – If she had said ‘two’, she knows she’d be in serious trouble from the media.

2 makes sense.

(I have 2, TBH I don't see why having kids should be "rewarded" at all, it was OUR choice, WE should pay for them).

I imagine the average working family would start to struggle at two, if that was the case then any benefits cap should be based on that figure too for fairness.

2 adults make children. So 2 children needed to replace those 2 adults. Use tax funds to support 2 kids for every couple or woman. Make it logical instead of emotional.

Whether it's a good idea or not, I wonder why she didn't suggest doing away with Child Benefit altogether. I'm sure it wasn't because that includes people who might vote for her.

Another MP getting their face in the paper.

If families never break up and people only ever have children with one partner.

I like the fact that she specifically mentions having more children whilst on benefits. Makes it seem a touch more thought out.

Personally I'm fed up with family break-up, fathers dumping one set of kids on the state and setting off to have more kids with someone else. Fix it at 2, and that's your lot!

Possibly, but she knows it won't come to anything, hence my point.

It's an interesting question though, to what extent the state can determine your behaviour while it supports you.

1 per adult then that would make custody following divorce more interesting.

Back in the day you used to get a married man’s tax allowance which meant you take home pay went up – this reflected two things 1) the man was often the only breadwinner and 2) once you were married it was presumed you would soon have kids to provide for. This allowance was replaced by one which only kicked once you had kids (as more people were having kids out of wedlock) and that was then superseded by the Child Tax Credit.

And one per adult would put a lid on these young single Mums trying to get in the Guiness book of records.
I assume I can say thatsmile

That is why I said 2 per couple or woman. that allows for 2 kids from 2 different men. Anything more and you will have to fund it yourself. Fair?

I agree with the theory, just questioning the mathematics - 1 guy with three women is four people creating 6 kids - more than a simple like for like replacement.
