It appears John Terry will be prosecuted subsequent to alleged remarks made towards the black QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. A significant development following the FA's charges against Luis Suarez yesterday.

Link to follow once the mainstream media catch up.

Please don't move this to the Football threads, mods. I'd suggest this may be of wider interest.

Judging by what they gave Suarez for what he allegedly said, Terry will end up being bummed in pokey by "Mr Big".

This is a criminal trial (not an FA subcommittee) and the maximum "sentence" is £2500. I would suggest the loss of trust of the public or other wider consequences would be more worrying to Mr Terry than would a fine equivalent to a few minutes on field earnings.

Assuming his not inconsiderable legal team don't help find him innocent, of course.

Or "Dad" as JT calls him.

Is there any sound to the clip I saw on the news ? Obviously the BBC are not going to play it if there were, but I was wondering if it was being based on lip reading or if one of the other players is confirming what is alleged.

The complaint came from Anton Ferdinand himself. If there are any clips left on youtube it's pretty easy to make out what he is saying.

Terry has said that it was said in the context of `I didn't call you a ***** ****`, and that Ashley Cole walked past the camera as he said `I didn't call you a`...

If he is found guilty it's his England career over, at least.

Having just seen the Video, it looks worse than I thought, but I guess it's all open to interpretation and JT will not be found guilty. If he is guilty, it's a shocking thing to have done, but benefit of the doubt and all that

His defence is that he was saying "I didn't call you a f***ing black c***".
Looking at the footage I find that hard to believe.

Still, he's always been a wonderful role model.

He'll be out of favour for a bit.

Then he'll score some goals and it'll all be forgotten. Again.

A là Rooney, Crouch, Giggs, etc...

The person in question knows he's a black man. What do you think is the point of inserting the word "black" between two swear words?

I can't help thinking that Ferdinand is a big girls blouse. In the early '80s he would have had the whole stadium making monkey noises and throwing bananas at him. Now some one may or may not have called him a fking black and he plays the race card. Rooney must have been called far worse, what with being a bald (but not any more), fat, thick scouser that shags old prossers.
