Glad to know my extreme paranoia about Uncle Sam is entirely justified.
(PS). A big 'howdy' to all my NSA fans tuning in.

US immigration have an incredibly hard job being charged with stopping as many people as possible from entering the USA and to try to put as many people off visiting what is, by and large, a fantastic Country.
They are very good at their job.
Their understanding of English English and the current fashions of communication in that tongue escape them as often Mexicans crossing their southern boarders.
I really would like to go back there again (been a fair few times) but the discomfort of dealing with US Immigration is almost enough to stop me as there are other parts of the World which are so much more welcoming to enter.
I will not let it colour my opinion of normal Americans and the country as a whole, but spending 3-5 hours minimum of my precious holiday time in a state of perpetual fear that US IMS will take the opportunity to destroy your holiday or even send you straight back is not something I consider in a positive light when booking.

I don't know what's more depressing, the hysterical over reaction by US immigration or the fact these airheads are posting things like that on a public timeline under their real names. Never mind immigration, you're also going to have current or future employers looking for that sort of stuff.
Oh it is agreed that the Visitors were a bit X faktor in their comments but come on, this really isn't the drag them out of line, accuse them of all sorts of stuff immigration have made up in their coffee break (she had said nothing, was only travelling with him, and they accuse her of going to act as his look out with no evidence at all) and create a record that will affect them for the rest of their lives.
Sorry but whilst I am 'happy' to see that the US counter measures are very strong and effective (Quotes as not sure that I like the level of intrusion they deem acceptable on a day to day level.) I feel that there has been a massive intelligence failure in interpreting a 'cool' computer hit with a 'human' mind.
Again this would be easier to deal with if it were a one off but time and again we see this poorly staffed and intellectually challenged bunch of individuals pissing on the good name of their Country.
I love America and its people.
However, stuff like this is just plainly mental. This pair of chavs don't exactly fit the terrorist stereotype do they?
My sister is moving to New York this year and I intend to visit her rather regularly...I guess I'd better get used to the insanity of US border control![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

26? She looks 35.
I was thinking that: a 35 year old dressed as an 18 year old. Maybe she is and she's hiding it from him. Actually he's got some major bags under his eyes too. Wonder when they last slept? Maybe she's been trying to cure him.

It's the Daily Mail FFS. Anyone avoiding the US on the basis of that "story" would probably be unable to get there under their own steam anyway!
Let's see the side of the story. Let's see the rest of the refusal form in full. Let's ask the two schmucks if they had the same sort of kick off face demonstrated in the DM photo whilst talking to immigration. I'd guess the mong factor continued to play an increasing part in their refusal into the country.
The whys and wherefores of US immigration have been done here before. They're not always the cheeriest bunch, but not to go for the sake of 5mins being courteous to an IO is daft. Unless you rule out going to 75% of the planet!
Meanwhile these two have probably had their first life lesson that you don't automatically have a right to everything and anything you want.

I travel regularly and have never had any issues with entry to any country, including USA.
I would have thought that if someone says they're going to destroy your country and then turns up for entry it's not in the least bit unreasonable to ask some questions.
Context is all though and whilst it is a 'silly' comment it is even more stupid to refuse entry after even cursory investigation.I would have thought that if someone says they're going to destroy your country and then turns up for entry it's not in the least bit unreasonable to ask some questions.
