Incredible story. Let's hope they don't make a film about it, that'll be boring as hell!

Anyone remember a case perhaps 30 years ago when there were huge snowdrifts in Scotland and some cars were similarly trapped, although not for anything like as long. One chap I always remember - he worked as a rep for a hosiery supplier and survived by using the samples he had in the car, pulling multiple layers over his arms and legs for warmth, and using a walking stick to poke ventilation holes in the snow (the snow was feet deep over the top of his car) He was quite a character....

I think Tom Hanks has already been signed. There's also a product placement contract for what brand of sporting goods he's going to talk to....

Thank god for all this pesky global warming then because our children will not know snow is. Mind it's not much different to being stuck on the A1 outside the Metro Centre while all the mothers wot lunch pile out.

Surely the sensible thing would be dig yourself out of the car and then dig the car out, say within a few hours.

There is something not quite right about the story.

The guy is not very talkative yet, and he wasn't without food. Had sleeping bag, clothes, beer, energy drinks and some food as well. Also no real evidence that he was there 2 months. The emaciation though is real.

Only about 1km down the track from a main road. Ok so you can get stuck down the tracks, I've had the odd experience where you take a short cut and end up in deep soft snow on a narrow track, but never failed to get out under own steam.

So this guy gets stuck, fair enough, it's snowing like buggery, fair enough, it's a bit cold too so better to stay with car, yep also fair enough. But there have been days even up in Umeå where it's been clear, dry and not that cold.

All a bit whiffy so far.
