As the title says...

If you are on benefits, it is mandatory to donate blood - unless medical advice says no.

50% reduction if you choose not to.

Funeral costs paid for if major organs donated after death.

The problem with blood donation is the actual sessions are all full and yet they always want blood - I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to donate, only to be told that the session is full and I try and donate every 3 months (i.e. as soon as you can).

But in answer to your question, sounds good to me tongue out

Why have you limited it to those on benefits?

I'd say it's a good starting point, testing the water so to speak. Plus it's better than pissy hobo blood.

If we were to make blood donation compulsory for benefit claimants, you would have everything set up in the job centre, and since everyone has an appointment it would be quite easy to manage. Good thinking.

I can think of some scrotes who ought to donate eight pints at one go although perhaps I'm being uncharitable smile

Why should you have to donate blood?

If the NHS paid for the blood, more people would donate, and there wouldn't be a shortage.

Yes there would, at the point of use as the NHS couldn't afford to buy all it needed.

maybe I'm oversensitive but the concept of owning the blood of benefits recipients seems a little mental even by Pistonheads' recent standards.

I think the hypothesis is that for benefits claimants, the govt would be "paying" for it already wink

Akin to getting the jobless doing something productive whilst out of work.

Both are good ideas. Neither will happen.

Why not simply stick them in tubes and take the blood on a daily basis, Matrix style.

Or just use prisons. The captives are there.

Clean up the prisoners, use the blood and as necessary use the lifers as organ donors.

(Personal interest in procuring lungs notwithstanding)

Seriously. Perhaps donating blood should be run as a civic duty. Just like jury service.
