How long a wait for a copycat shooting as the media coverage ramps up?

Sorry but much as I don't want to see the kids get killed I'm now way past the point where I have any sympathy for a country whose rulers are prepared to allow this preventable carnage to continue year after year after year after year in the name of 'freedom' or whatever it is they claim makes gun ownership a must-have.

Thousands more children both currently living and yet to come will be sacrificed on this altar but they clearly don't give a damn.

Frankly I don't know why our media continue to give it air time over here, its a yearly event.

As I said, sorry for appearing uncaring but you can't help those who wont help themselves.

When you put it like that... frown

Awful to think of the parents who sent their kids to school this morning with a hug and kiss, and now will never hear their little laughs again.

Absolutely horrific. I don't think there are actually any words to describe it.

God rest their souls.

Why are the people you couldn't possibly ever have a grudge against the ones who always suffer in these situations? A primary school!

Truly awful. Heart breaking. There are no words to describe how horrific that must have been for the dead & injured, and will continue to be horrific for parents etc for years to come.

I don't ever want to understand what would drive someone to carry out this sort of atrocity.

Cold. How do you know the parents of the children killed weren't gun-control advocates? Also there are plenty of other countries where people have easy access to firearms that don't seem to have these issues. It's easy to blame an inanimate object.

Im not blaming an inanimate object, im blaming the rules of a society which allows anyone to buy and carry round an inanimate object which is in fact, an object which can cause untold death and destruction to a great many people.

Are there any other first world countries where owning a great many, non hunting, guns is legal and in many cases seen as a positive thing? There is no point to handguns or sub machine guns, none at all apart from self defence in the hands of those who have been trained to use them and made accountable under the highest regulations, for using them.

I just heard about this in the car on the way home from work. 27 reported dead, 18 of them children. A terrible story and rightly food for thought as regards gun control in my opinion.

Nobody is blaming the gun. Its the access to them that is to blame. Americans nutters also seem to have a predeliction for killing kids at school unlike nutters in any other country.
