So UKIP win the Euro Election.....
Discussion
It'll make no difference at all. And that ought to give people some insight into how little impact the EU parliament has and the penny might then drop that EU membership itself isn't a very big deal either and that a party that predicates its existence on opposing something that isn't very important is in fact a waste of a vote. I can dream. In reality Dave and Co. will make some more embarrassingly nationalistic pronouncements in an attempt to woo the Little Englanders.
I don't think anything will change overnight. When does it ever?
In the run up to the next election though, I think it will make them far harder to ignore. If Cameron keeps refusing to engage Farage in a debate he will look weak. However if he offers a pact tied to the referendum then Farage has a tough choice to make - collaborate with the Tories to get an in/out referendum or carry on as a full political party.
The part I'm more curious about at this stage is how Labour do. If Labour come out on top then the Tories really have to look at a deal with UKIP. If they also have a disappointing result then the Tories have a bit of breathing space, and Labour might feel more pressure to promise a referendum, especially if UKIP are taking votes from Labour as they have made a concerted effort to do.
All that said it's a totally different election with a totally different voting system and a much smaller turn out, generally looking at different things, so there's a viable argument that it shouldn't really have any impact on Westminster politics at all. I guess some of that depends on the nerves of the leaders of the main parties.
(And setting the tone for much political discussion in the next few years, the Lib Dems don't get a mention.)

He wants to pull Britain out of Europe but wants to get elected to it, seem a bit hypocritical?
Nope, getting elected to show just what a load of s***e happens in the EU.... Then use that back in the UK to try to get us to leave the EU.[quote=AJS-]I don't think anything will change overnight. When does it ever?

With the representation that the Labour party has in Scotland it might be useful to consider their position if the Independence vote is a 'Yes'. They could be wiped out in the rest of the UK and so irrelevant when it comes to a General Election.

Meanwhile he'll be able to do nothing about any of it, so will continue collecting his wage (from the EU) and paying his wife one too.Nice little earner.
