The guy seemed a bit senile. Pity the police took too long to get there. Either way they both need to be spoken to and the old guy needs to be checked out by a doctor.

Why didn't the people behind just make a U turn and go down Oldfield Road, rather than waste 40 mins arguning with them?

For them to come to a stop where they did in the tunnel - the guy must have already passed the give way road markings on his side before the woman reached the "priority over oncoming traffic" sign on hers.

They guy was obviously having difficulty reversing, but did have a go by the looks of it - but IMO the woman should have reversed as she had a shorter distance to cover and her reverse was far less complicated - the guy would have to have reverse around a bend.

The fact that he was apparently unable to reverse meant her refusal to do so was nothing but bloody mindedness and achieved nothing. If he is suffering from dementia or something - just what point was she trying to prove - and could he have understood it anyway?
The woman seemed to be getting an easier ride. Did the blokes think they might be in with a chance?
