I'm in Barcelona. We were just by our hotel and saw a white Transit-size van careering down the middle of the Ramblas mowing people down. It's a major incident.

Don't really want to go into what I've just seen as it's really really not good...

Could be who we think it is, but it could also be another group of minority nutters. The ones who want tourists out of Spain, since they hit a tourist spot. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/spain-attacks-...

Yes thanks. We are back in the hotel now and trying to get messages out to tell friends and family we are OK. We had only just arrived from the airport...

Just to say, some of the media is reporting this as a "major crash" but it clearly was no accident. Driver was at some speed (maybe 40mph when he passed in front of us) and swerving left and right to collect pedestrians. Major damage to the front of the van, but still kept going.

Emergency services were very quickly on the scene, and Police chasing in cars, on bikes and on foot. bd might have got away.

More inaction and more Spanish flags on face book.

Well at least we know now that all our world leaders can specifically single out and condemn The group who did this violence or the main stream media will lose their minds for weeks.

In the nicest possible way not the right time or place just yet.

if you have been following the news in recent months it could just as likely be José as Amhed. Granted lone nut job has to be in the running but as we saw last weekend radicalised Muslims are not the only people who like to drive cars at those they disagree with.

Thoughts are with those directly affected by this. We went there a few years ago and it is one of the few cities we have been to that we honestly felt "We could live here".

I was just thinking we haven't had a Muslim incident for a while and we were due for another one very soon.

There's some horrific videos of the aftermath on twitter.

When/How does this eventually end?

please everyone stop the sarcastic/whiney repetitive posts about facebook flags please, no one is under the illusion that it's effective action against terrorism - it's just a bit of harmless condolence for those who were affected.
