...... while out canvassing

she did not think her car had been targeted because of who she was.
I think you'll find you're wrong love. It comes with the territory; steal from taxpayers, get your tyres slashed.

Ordinarily, I'd just put it down to an automotive aesthete being confronted by the horror that is a xsara picasso and wanting to harm it, but in this case special conditions apply.

I presume she'll be making a claim for some new tyres?

No doubt 30" 15 profile Conti Sport Contact 2s with added Unicorn Mane Hair.

Only £30,000 a corner, Mr Taxpayer.

If it's not to do with who she is then it should come off her own insurance surely..?

I hope she does. Why should she be out of pocket for something that's not her fault.

I don't really find it funny that people gloat when someone's car gets attacked, even if it is a politician and a Picasso.

I agree, however, I'd guess that we'll foot the final bill, somehow.

No problem with her using her own insurance to do this...

I'd usually agree with you. However, in this case I can see why it was done. We (the general populace) really have no comeback whatsoever against ms blears and her morally (if not legally) indefensible manipulation of her expenses. People feel, quite rightly, that if they'd done the same they'd be banged up, yet blears goes her merry way. She's now got the barefaced cheek to stand for re-election. I think this is rubbing people up the wrong way, and the result is, I'm afraid to say, inevitable.

Whether it was a bunch of hoodies or a bunch of irate tax payers, it's far from coincidental that it was her car that was targetted.

ETA there's also the fact that she's a hideously ugly rhino-skinned harridan with an annoying rictus grin, dodgy taste in transport and several years in high office with nothing much positive to show for it!

Silly woman, she should have known better than to go canvassing during the school holidays when the kids take over the streets...

She told the BBC: "This was an act of anti-social behaviour by some youths, the same kind of anti-social behaviour unfortunately many of my constituents have to put up with.

Which her government have been instrumental in creating.

The Labour Party's Manifesto 1997
We will be tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime

- Fast-track punishment for persistent young offenders

- Reform Crown Prosecution Service to convict more criminals

- Police on the beat not pushing paper

- Crackdown on petty crimes and neighbourhood disorder

perhaps they need less of these:

and more of these:

Can't say I condone or support vandalism, even of something as mundane as a Picasso. But, in truth, I'm struggling to feel sorry for the 'orrible little cow.

Claim it on your insurance, pet. Asking us for sympathy after you've comprehensively picked our pocket is a stretch.

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. She wouldn't know as she doesn't know the mind of the attacker.

Still think it's wrong to "gloat" over a car, anyones car, being damaged.

However it pans out, "expenses claim" or insurance claim "we" still end up paying anyway.

I think we are all missing the real point here. It has taken a Xsara Picasso off the road, albeit for a short time, and for this we must be thankful

As long as the claim is on her insurance, then of course she should claim. Given that MP's claim for mileage rather than vehicle costs AND the car was being used be her for party rather than government business, I doubt she'd be able to attempt to claim under expenses rules . . . . . . . if she does try and pass it off through expenses, she deserves everything that will come her way smile

If she does manage to get it through expenses I wonder if that means that when Chapman stuffed his Rover coupe into a tree (according to local gossips apparently whilst pissed as a fart) the repairs were claimed back?

Just seen the video of her in the back of the car making a phone call. Weirdly it looks as though they were driving the car at the time. If it was parked, it's at an odd angle away from the kerb and parked too close to the junction as well, that's an offence dear.
