It just shows that the current (or ANY) gun law just does not work.

Do you think the gun was legally held? What on earth difference does any gun law make if guns are available outside of the law?

And that IS my point. Why keep introducing more and more laws when the truth is 'these people' really dont give a st.

Hopefully they weren't shot in the leg or it could hinder their footballist careers.

True. Penalising responsible people in order to (fail to) control irresponsible people is a sign of failed government.

Applies to speeding laws, too.

I agree that kneejerk banning of legitimate social gun use is wrong. But I don't agree with any serius relaxing of the rules. If anything, prison terms for holding illegal firearms should be longer to discourage even having them in your possesion. What probably wrankles the most is when the Justice System fails to sentence adequately.

Interesting to note that all released prisoners are banned from using firearms for 5 years from release (I was asked to sign a specific document acknowledging this); I wonder how many prosecutions there are under this legislation every year?

What a dumb statement.

How do you know what the situation would be like given a different law in place?
Does the fact that burglary and murder still occur mean that the laws in relation to such offences also do not work?

Can you Northerners / country-folk stop referring to everything as South London?

It's just a specific bit of South London which i've never had to to visit, fortunately.

No one is getting 'whacked', 'drive-by'd' in other bits of South London. Neither are there 'pimps' and 'hos' at the end of my road.

For all those living in the vicinity of south london, aren't you afraid for the lives of you and your family? It's a warzone around here and you know it. The only way out is to pack your things and move out to north/west/east London as soon as possible. You know it makes sense.

This has nothing to do with the fact that I fking hate London fking traffic and the less people live around here the better.

I haven't been out all day, but then it's too hot to move at the moment let alone run from all the crazed gun men running up and down my road.

No for nothing is Grand Theft Auto written in Edinburgh, and the console conversions done in Leeds!

Note to others: Just because people break a law, does not make a law wrong.

True enough. But the gun control laws are wrong.
