Madness.
It is ok for australia to deport someone who has lived there for so long with minor criminal history but we won't/can't deport this guy http://www.track-days.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I am surprised they ever caught him. He mustn't have been listening to Trisha and Alan 'Umphries when they told him to "leg it" .

Maybe we should offer the service at a cost, we will take all your crims at £1mil a pop, as you say we get them anyway.

We just mark them return to sender.

Luckily we don't delve to far into our family tree and deport them on that basis...

'Stick 'em on an island and let 'em fend for themselves' is sort of part reference to what we did in the late 1700s/early 1800s deporting convicts to Australia.

Well, now you know where that new island is!
Perhaps we are the new Australia?

Sadly here the crims/outcasts/spongers don't have to fend for themselves, we do it ALL for them at our (your) cost.

Please rearrange:
'We' 'Plot' 'Have' 'The' 'Lost' 'Time!' 'Big'

So do I.

But the press would have a field day with it, pandering to the idiotic classes in this country, so no govt will ever grow a pair.

Anyone here as a guest of this country caught committing a crime should be instantly sent back from whence they came. Do not pass Go. Do not collect £200. Do not appeal to the EC Court of Human Rights. Just feck off back and bother your own compatriots.

Why bother sending them back to bother other people, we should just hang them imo, and not just foreign criminals, all criminals, why waste money on prison for scum like that? Caught doing 34 in a 30, its the noose for you! Do not appeal to the EC Court of Human Rights, just feck off and die down the gallows. Would soon sort this country out. But the press would have a field day with it, pandering to the idiotic classes in this country, so no govt will ever grow a pair.

I hardly think shooting a police office is a "minor criminal history". But yes, they should have done it after he finished his sentence, not several years later and when he has 3 kids.

In a world where you can hop on a plane and be on the other side of the planet in less than a day, trade with virtually any country in the world and contact anybody almost anywhere within seconds it amazes me how isolationist the average PHer is.

Move with the times.

Grounds for deportation could also include low intelligence. Not taking citizenship was pretty dumb.

This is my favourite bit of the whole story

His lawyer Stephen Kenny said:
"If he's a ratbag, he's one of our ratbags. He's done the crimes and he's paid for the crimes. This is quite an inhumane punishment, far beyond the treatment he deserves."
