Assuming that AV does make it past the referedum would it change how you vote?
As you now have more then one vote if you vote carefully or will you carry on to vote tory.
This is not to say wether AV is good or bad there is already a thread about that
Why do you assume I'd vote Tory? I did the last time because the party I'd originally voted for was dry-humping my country and needed to be got rid of. Anyone who votes for a party because of the colour of their tie should have the right to vote removed immediately. As you now have more then one vote if you vote carefully or will you carry on to vote tory.

If the Tories do a good job then I'll vote for them again, but if another party comes up with the goods they'll get my vote.

So you voted tory but didn't feel they were the best optionIf the Tories do a good job then I'll vote for them again, but if another party comes up with the goods they'll get my vote.
So who would you vote under AV

Only change for me would be that the Tories might go down as a second choice (unless they drastically change their stance on a few areas in which case they'd be first)
AV would not change my first vote as i already voted for who i felt represented my views the best but i might put blue ties down as 3rd pref with a minor party first and secondthinfourth2 said:

UKIP ? or Lib Dem ?So who would you vote under AV
the interesting thing will be the effective abolition of safe seats ... when suddenly the next nearest competitor to the incumbent party starts to pick up 2nd/ 3rd / 4th choices ... Marginals will become even more unpredicatable
the no2av campaign seems to be more concerned with smearing Clegg and pointing out that because the BNP got a euro seat or two under the 'party list' joke system in the Euros ... AV or STV is likely to make the current parliament seem like the norm rather than the wild swings to and fro between Liarbore and the Cons

I don't see how AV would help. Maybe UKIP might get a few more votes? Who is going to put a 1 by Tory then put a 2 by Labour or vice versa? Libdems are dead in the water.
I don't think anyone will put tory 1 labour 2 unless epically stupid. However how many folk voted Tory just to get rid of brown?
How many voted bLair to get rid of thatcher?*
Under AV you can vote for UKIP No1 and then vote blue tie No2 to get rid of red tie
*(yes i know it was Major but don't forget how thick folk are)

much more likely to be ( in the above scenario of the tory voter) Con or ukip 1
ukip or con 2
lib dems or greens 3
greens or lib dems 4
which puts UKIP / Lib Dems / Green much more in the picture and perhaps people who feel obliged to vote Con or liarbore to make sure the other one doesn't get itn might vote on the basis of their actual beliefs
It would change the way I vote as I'd end up invalidating the voting slip. I will only vote for the party I want to see in power, I really can't see the point of me voting in any form for a party that I don't want to see in power.
So my voting slip would only have one vote. And I'm guessing in a AV election this would invalidate the voting slip.

It won't make a jot of difference even if adopted. The vast majority will just put an X next to the candidate they want and ignore all the others as they are entitled to do.
Of course it might have slightly more effect in Jockland where the choice is between the Anti-English Party (SNP) and Scottish (we're nothing to do with English <spit!> Labour, honest) Labour. The seething Jock independence fora seem to think it will disadvantage the SNP, which possibly explains Milibore's sudden conversion to the pro side. Let's hope it fails, anything that lessens the chance of Scotch independence must be avoided at all costs!

Labour have a clear margin in my constituency (if their voters last time placed them all 1st, they would win outright in Round 1). Last election I voted SNP. Under AV I would probably have ranked every party other than Labour.thinfourth2 said:

The stupid thing is is that the version of AV they'll give us (should it win) won't be compulsory (thus, if many people don't like it already, then bye-bye more than 30% turnout in general elections). And, it won't force you to put down more than one candidate.
So, you can, essentially, put down 1 first preference and leave the voting booth and it will still count.
Showing JUST how pointless AV is. Either go the whole hog to PR or ps off.
