Oscar Pistorius shoots girlfriend
Discussion
Secure estate or not, he was obviously concerned/paranoid about intruders.
........."In an interview with the Daily Mail in August 2012 at his home in Pretoria, it was reported that the 26-year-old kept a "revolver at his bedside".
The article added that he also kept "a machine gun by his window" and "one baseball bat and one cricket bat behind his bedroom door".
While the home, described in the article as "a bachelor pad", is on a guarded estate, the weapons were necessary due to "this being South Africa".......

I was just doing my bit to broaden the horizons, not take a newspaper interview necessarily as gospel, etc

Only Reeva sounds a bit Mental-y in that article... plus if you date more than 2 women in your life the likelihood of encountering mental are monu-mental... thats just life.
His reaction to mental however sets an interesting precident...
She was one of my little brothers best friends and has/had been for many years and she was not a bunny boiler to the best of my knowledge. His reaction to mental however sets an interesting precident...

Something to bear in mind is that once he's tucked up in bed he may well feel pretty vulnerable without his prosthetics. In a place like SA I'd like a gun by my bed if didn't have the option of hiding.
Although I imagine he might be feeling a bit vulnerable tonight.
Pistorius to spend night behind bars

Wow!! Just read this on the BBC. Looks like he mistook her, but it´s a tragedy for him personally
More of a tragedy for her, I'd say.funkyrobot said:

More of a tragedy for her, I'd say.I don't think many people get accidentally shot 4 times with a semi automatic
So did he manage to shoot her 4 or more times from bed, or did he wake up, put his prosthetic legs on (a 2- or 3- step process that takes a good couple of minutes) - all the while fearing that there's a violent intruder in the house - and then shoot her? Surely he'd have realised who it was during all that time?
Something doesn't quite add up.

The mistaken identity excuse seems to be a just a rumour that the police have dismissed. Something doesn't quite add up.
