O'Mara, seems to be more interested in giving it the "big I am" with his all student sycophants down Eccleshall Road.

Sorry - it must too many years living in Stoke, and working near Eccelshall.

The point about O'Mara still stands though!

I think I've raised this point before, possibly on this thread, but the law does need to be changed somehow. As it stands you can be elected as an MP and go on holiday (literally) for 5 years, be paid £70k for it and no one can do anything about it.

Ironically it's Nick Clegg that stopped the right to recall legislation which would have got him back into this seat.

"Opponents of the process further worried that MPs "in fear" of being recalled would increase the number of "automatons and lobby fodder" in the Commons."
I think the gangparty machine ensures that.

I have a question for him, but it looks as though I'll only find him if I go to his bar in town and look for the ginger bloke giving some woman a kicking.

The local party who put him up in the first place should be hauled over the coals for this.

It was obvious from day one that he was a terrible candidate.

But yet the good folk of Hallam voted him in over the old, steady, experienced, ex deputy PM hand of Nick Clegg.
Fairly unique situation of a mobilised student-heavy constituency and comedy student-kryptonite Clegg, I'd say.

We may just live to find out. It'll be the Americans' turn to laugh at us, which I suppose is only fair.

Labour had usually been an also-ran in Hallam, but with the increase of students and nurses moving into the area, around Broomhill and Sharrow over the last few years which is now part of the constituency, the typically middle class liberal area has gradually swung to trendy and shouty Corbynism.

The local council wards in Fulwood, Crosspool, Ranmoor, Whirlow etc are still very centre right though.

O'Mara is to "resume his duties" it seems. Not sure what duties he is going to resume, but from doing F-all under doctors orders to doing F-all with the blessing of his Momentum comrades.

So he's coming back on a 'phased return', I thought you had to have been there in the first place, to return at all.

An MP should either be dedicated to his community and committed to helping his constituents, or be a particularly gifted and experienced individual suitable for a ministerial or committee position of power/influence/wisdom.

So for O'Mara, that's Fail/Fail.

triffic.

Whilstever he remains fully committed to Comrade Corbyn and the Marxist revolution, I'll wager a fiver he retains his seat.
I would think that if the election is in term time, he may well hang onto it.

But if the students are at home.......

Cheers,

Tony

Hmm, I thought the swing to Labour was large, but it was not. Clegg squeaked it in 2015.

I've still not managed to get a constituents appointment with Mr O'Mara, despite his alleged return to work.

It's not like he is spending much time in the HoC voting - http://www.publicwhip.org.uk/mp.php?mpid=41574&amp...
But he doesn't seem to be doing much parliamentary work at all, besides writing 3 letters in March, he hasn't been seen or heard of at all recently - https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/25636/jared_o%27...

There's nothing in the local papers about him, or even quoting him - he allegedly appeared at one of the tree protests last month, but nobody saw him.

It's a good gig this Momentum backed MP lark - looks like easy money.
