I know nothing but I talked with a friend who works in the German gas industry and there doesn't seem to be a panic about prices here although they will be going up. Perhaps Germany has longer term contracts?
Anyhow there are no CO2 shortages here. Make of that what you will.

Perhaps the German media haven't spun hysteria and panic? One of the red tops run with a "panic" front-page this week...

Not everyone in here is a moronic as the media want to present the UK population...

That's true as far as I can tell - no panicking over gas prices, although likely some predicted rises in the medium / long term apparently.

Also no CO2 shortages, supermarkets fully stocked and petrol/diesel available as normal.

Just a pity to see most British brands disappearing from supermarket shelves - presumably they're being sent instead to far more lucrative territories.

Or maybe it's because Germany didn't close down and sell off all the available gas storage facilities like the current government has.

Gas prices in Europe haven't spiked like they have in the UK.

The quick rise in natural gas prices impacts Germany, but the economy ministry at this point does not aim to use government action to protect consumers, reports energy policy newsletter Tagesspiegel Background. While prices are rising fast in Germany, the government has so far no intention to intervene in the market
Price comparison website Verivox told Tagesspiegel that dozens of suppliers in Germany would be raising household gas prices in autumn, on average more than 13 percent, which corresponds to additional costs of 191 euros for the average household. Verivox said that not only higher market prices would fuel the “gas price wave” but also the next stage in national carbon pricing, which is due to go up from 25 to 30 euros per tonne of CO2 in 2022. Suppliers would often directly pass on this cost increase to customers.

Oh... st....

So gas prices rising, or Jamie Dinon's new UK Bank have fk all to do with Brexit... .

What a surprise.....

Brexit isn't the convenient parking point for the worlds ills, its something else entirely. At least we know who the racists are. Thanks Barnier.

The usual brainless Google bashing will always uncover something to fit your prescribed narrative.
However it's a very different market.
It takes freaking ages for jumps in utility prices to reach the average consumer and it's all so regulated and averaged out that any spikes are very unlikely to hit in the short or even medium term.
Trust me, nobody is panicking about gas prices.

As you were, with your exciting headline-hunting fun and games.

The gas bill is tiny in comparison to everything else (house insulation standards, block heating etc.etc.) ...a 13% rise when the bill comes around in a year or so will barely register...if indeed the spike hasn't passed by then.
Once more repeat: Nobody is panicking about gas prices.

But do feel free to panic on their behalf - thanks in advance.
(am I supposed to roll on the floor laughing now too, like a 6 year old?)

So, increased to the maximum under the cap, which comes up for review in April. How many energy companies will be left then?
https://news.sky.com/story/energy-crisis-what-do-y...

Note - gas price has increased by 250%..........

If you're not paying via your energy bill, you'll be paying via tax.

Triple lock pensions? No more
National Insurance? Increased
Social tax? On the way
Pay rises for the NHS? Of course! (just lower than inflation)
Speaking of inflation? Lots more to come!
Universal credit increases? Time to give those back

I'd tell you to crack open a beer to toast your "good fortune", but not sure how long that'll be an option for you either......

The bullstters on this thread are in overdrive at the moment - we know the causes of fuel price rises, but they'll swear blind it's "because Brexit"...

... and people wonder why the Remain campaign managed to discredit itself to the extent that it did. rolleyes

Each additional 'contribution' by UU, Deltona and the rest just hammers the message home - these people can't be trusted.

Thank you for proving entirely the point I was making, but shouldn't you be quoting Moterboard or UU or any of those most vexed by what the media says Vs what they pay (which includes smoothing wholesale volatility)...

Many are concerned with interest rate rises too, weirdly on an EU centric thread.....

Not about ME.
About my friends, colleagues, family, and everyone I know who, y'know, actually LIVES in Germany.
But presumably you know far better from your vantage point on the internet in little England.

Anyway this is moronic. TTYL PMSL

That's been the case for five years so nothing new there, most if not all their claims can be debunked in minutes, most of the time it's not worth the effort as is often demonstrated by the lack of any responses to the ultra's.

What means TTYL?

PMSL is what we do often, often with the team; but TTYL is a new one.

As an aside lots of posters should watch Billions. Some are so intent on playing the man, they miss the wood for the trees. Let alone reading what is posted....
