I think they are an utter waste of time and rejoice in not wearing one but sneering and finger pointing at those who continue to wear one is not going to help one jot.
I think in the fullness of time as we open up more mask usage will drop dramatically but if people start wearing them when they have a cold, etc (like they do in Japan) then I don't reckon that's a bad thing.
We've had two years of this and it's going to take quite a bit of time to unravel.

Just returned from my local Aldi (Edwalton, Nottingham) and none of shoppers have seen this poll as most (85ish%?) were still wearing masks.
I won't be wearing a mask now as my face is brilliant and it needs sharing with the world. It'll be good for everyone's moral.
I suspect mask wearing will drop off over the next few weeks.
But surely, only for other visages of such brilliant radiance? Those who advocate masks, perhaps don't share your celestial luminescence?I won't be wearing a mask now as my face is brilliant and it needs sharing with the world. It'll be good for everyone's moral.

Out today for a haircut, usual place 3 or 4 sitting & 1 standing waiting, all masked, no problem, I'll vote with my feet. Straight over to the Turkish barbers and in the chair, cash only, no questions asked
Was the usual place asking you to wear a mask, or was it just the choice of the customers who happened to be there?Edited by GSE on Thursday 27th January 17:40
You come across as someone who is scared of people who choose to wear masks.

Can we all try to not direct quote/reply to the short sailor on this thread please.
Take it as a challenge, first person that does gets their visage virtually slapped.
Almost all in our local Tesco last night with masks on. The staff were the noticeable exception with less than half wearing.
I remember last time it taking a week or so for people to start ditching them, but it baffles me that by choice people are still wearing them, as someone else said, especially the young and healthy.
The compliance/fear/apathy is frightening really.
... and yet I bet they'll go to the pub and sit down without one on. Bizarre.

I suspect this whole situation has been a real eyeopener for those in charge! Throw a bit of a scare into people and many of them will do anything, no questions asked.... and yet I bet they'll go to the pub and sit down without one on. Bizarre.

No - have not worn one since the last mandate lapsed. Why would I start now?
Interestingly enough minimal change yesterday, I guess it takes time for it to bed in.
That's my guess. Last time there was a few days when people were looking at everyone else thinking "Shall I, shan't I?" But a week or so later it was about 70/30 maskless round my way (outer SE London).Interestingly enough minimal change yesterday, I guess it takes time for it to bed in.

A lot of people don't watch the news. At all. Hence it will be awhile before they realise anything has changed. Being aware of what is going on in the world (well as aware as you can be) is a minority sport. Popped to Sainsburys on my way home from work, I went in maskless, I would say I was definately in the vast minority.
But nobody said anything or challenged you?I’m expecting similar in Waitrose tomorrow.
A lot of places said you much wear a mask if you can and staff instructed not to challenge or enforce anything.
