Where is the Envoy of the quartet to the Middle East, a certain Mr T. Blair?
I would love, absolutely love, to see you right in the thick of it.
Blair is yesterday's man. The hour has arrived; where's Obama?

What the confused Gaddafi commenting from a milk float / invalid carriage, whilst wearing one of those hats with the fold down ear flaps?

The same reason any nation gives a damn about anything. If it's in your own national interest then you 'give a damn'. Arabs pretend to care about Palestine as it's a good way to show their population that they are fighting for 'the poor muslim against the evil baby eating jews'.

Conversely, do you think we really give a damn about people in Afghanistan? No we just want them to keep their st within their own boundaries and stop exporting it to our front doors. Saying we care though helps us to save face and maintain our presence on the ground.

People only care about themselves - such is life.
And I totally agree. I was demonstrating for others that the Arab league saying nothing about Ghadaffi airstriking protestors should illustrate that any outrage over "Palestine" is only self serving lip service. smile

It's funny how things that the world might consider very minor take personal preference over things the world might consider important, but right now my overriding concern is to hear that Claire (Gaffer) is safely out of Libya and on her way back to the UK.

My friend said that there was a huge change brewing in the middle east and that there would be crazy riots.
He also believes in astrology, homeopathy and that aliens live on the dark side of the moon so I called him a crazy quack.

He's so going to use this against me..

My dad works on oil rigs and spends a year in an eastern country and then moves to the next. He told me last year that pretty much the whole of the middle east was on the brink of civil wars. Turns out he was right.
Glad he is out of tripoli and Iraq now. Just hope things don't go the same way in Oman
I have heard similar from others several months ago 'getting out'.

Is the penny dropping?

Just been listening to Cameron spouting right this minute in Kuwait (anniversary of end of first Gulf war)... he has suddenly started mentioning 'nuclear' 'Iran' 'Iran' 'Iran'... 'we will not stand idly by while the threat of Iran'... etc etc.

Time for another war, boys.

Is this what it is all about?

I have heard nothing from her since 7pm yesterday. Our skype conversation ended with "Got to go. xxx" Hence I am hoping she's GTFO. Fingers crossed, as there were bullets bouncing off her apartment and people getting shot to fck in the streets outside...
