Didn't they have to bribe people with perks to incentivise them? Those pesky "vaccine hesitant" people who weren't first in line.
Wasn't there that music festival where they were trying to get teenagers to take it?

Edit - https://news.sky.com/story/covid-just-435-people-g...
Reading Festival had a Covid vaccine tent, it was always empty when we ventured past it.
Leeds did too. Couldn't quite get my head around the 'informed consent' aspect of offering covid jabs to drunk/drugged up young people, in an environment where an adverse reaction would be hard to deal with or spot.

Any of my fellow antivaxxers still have all their limbs 2 years after this?

Fortunately it turned out that was all complete bks and there was no significant increase in amputations during the first year of covidism. I'm sure we all remember the media reporting this and the contrite apologies for alarm caused...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10202...

I still find it absolutely mind boggling that just 2 years ago we were subjected to this onslaught of total bks.
Not entirely sure what point you are trying to prove?

One wasn’t vaccinated and lost limbs, and the other was and lost limbs.

Not really trying to prove anything. I find it strange to think that we were subjected to such insane propaganda just 2 years ago and thought I would share it as a reminder.

A total aside, but has anyone else found that with the change in work patterns, more working from home, emptier offices etc, that they’re getting fewer colds in the winter but when you do get one they seem to be more severe? Possibly a result of not constantly having to fight them off I guess. I’ve got a stinker just now, last time I felt this rotten it actually was Covid!
If this stinker you have involves a horrible hacking cough (almost whooping cough) then that's just been through our house. I got it 3 weeks ago and was bad for a week, and thanks to my love of a Marlboro the cough is still lingering, along with a blocked left ear. I then gave it to the wife who had it properly bad, basically off for 2 weeks unable to leave bed with an even worse cough.

Strangely the wife still goes into the office 2 or 3 days a week on the train, whereas I am pretty much purely remote now. However our place calls it remote working rather than WFH, so I take advantage by working from coffee shops, pubs, golf clubs etc.

tl:dr Not sure about the exposure part, but that one that's been going round is a brute.

Maybe it was just luck of the draw, but one observation I had this week on the way into London on the train was seeing a handful (<5) people on the carriage wearing masks.

Thinking back a few months ago, I rarely saw anyone wearing a mask. Maybe one person at most.

I would think it’s a perfect time to wear them if one is vulnerable especially with, as noted above, this cold that’s going around at the moment.

I prefer to wear a magic hat.

It's about as bloody effective....

Why do you think that Granpa?

Know something the scientists don't about the masks?

Just to add: I saw a couple sitting next to each other wearing the tissue paper masks. Giant gaps around the sides and not fitting very well. No doubt, it was stopping all the microscopic microbes from penetrating the magical force field.

Unless Ian Brown regularly does NHS events it seems old Piers changed his tune.

I'm pretty sure he changed his mind further more recently, but I don't really have the inclination to browse his X feed to check.

My post was tongue in cheek.

And in all honesty, if they want to wear them, that’s their decision and one that would have absolutely no effect whatsoever on my life.

Yes I'm getting fewer colds than ever and since I've been unjabbed I haven't had a cold for over a year... Can I ask are you jabbed?

2 + the late 2021 booster in the big winter campaign that year. Nothing since then and I’ve never bothered with the flu vaccine.

Unjabbed. My cold patterns are well within normal bounds. It was simply a big fraud which had no influence at all on colds and some influence on heart attacks.

Is your work pattern any different to before 2020 though? I’m WFH’ing a lot now whereas I didn’t before & also not commuting by train every day like I used to. It’s the living like a hermit that I’m speculating is causing the change to the colds I get.

Yes, I get the odd day WFH and so do a few others I work with but I probably still meet the same number of people every week so I'm not convinced that it's breaking transmission significantly.

I think this is an effect, but also the wider philosophical change that you no longer need to soldier into work and get sent home for dying at your desk.

Now, a bit under the weather, work from home is perfectly acceptable.

Pre 2020, monster cold, temperature, coughing, phlegm literally falling out of your face... Hop on a packed commuter train, tube, bus, into the office, and happily infect everyone en route.

That in and of itself will be significant I'd imagine. If there's some long term herd immunity that we lose, who knows... But laws of unintended consequences can always apply!

Good for you buddy, thanks for being wingman on the vaccine. Without you we would still be in this mess. :-)

What would be the potential repercussions of giving your unwanted jab invite from your GP Practice to a friend who is desperate for a booster? Due to a stroke many years ago, I am apparently on a "vulnerable person" list jester and am being bombarded with text messages to get jabbed. My friend who believes in all the deadly covaids crap, has had all his jabs and boosters, but does not qualify for the current covaids booster, much to his chagrin. I haven't been to the Practice for the best part of 20 years but from what I remember, you don't actually speak to anyone when you go in, just selec t your DOB and surname from a screen and you're all set.
