What would be the potential repercussions of giving your unwanted jab invite from your GP Practice to a friend who is desperate for a booster? Due to a stroke many years ago, I am apparently on a "vulnerable person" list and am being bombarded with text messages to get jabbed. My friend who believes in all the deadly covaids crap, has had all his jabs and boosters, but does not qualify for the current covaids booster, much to his chagrin. I haven't been to the Practice for the best part of 20 years but from what I remember, you don't actually speak to anyone when you go in, just selec t your DOB and surname from a screen and you're all set.
How would you feel if he takes your slot and keels over 12 hours later?grumbledoak said:

Well, said friend has revealed his true colours over the past 3 years and after recently blurting out "all these dhead antivaxxer conspiracy theorists know nothing. I have a friend that worked on the vaccines at Porton Down and he said they're safe so that's good enough for me" , then you'll understand I'm way past the point of caring now. But you are right, it would get awkward quite quickly if he did a Tiffany Dover before he even made it out of the surgery .r3g said:

It's bizarre how hard it's pivoted from what it was a year and a half ago when you weren't even allowed in nightclubs or music venues without a vaccine passport (in Scotland anyway) to now where you can't get a booster even if you want one
I’m sure if someone really wants one to keep their stamps up to date they could buy one - but I’m sure the up take wouldn’t have been so high if they had to be paid for rather than freeIan974 said:

Quite. He is bitterly disappointed and has offered me money to take mine. A few months back when they announced the roll-out of the latest covaids booster that was all he talked about and was eagerly looking forward to getting it as soon as it was offered to him (he is 52 so assumed he qualified, being over 50) but then that didn't happen. I'm sure it's no coincidence that he has the TV "news" on all the time at home, and also has installed a TV at his work unit which runs the "news" in the background all day too. B'stard Child said:

I doubt you could pay for it, as it's still conditional authorisation right? I think the USA was the only country to grant full approval? But of course, I could be out of date there. RemarkLima said:

I don't believe you are out of date. I am surprised at how long it has taken these vaccines to be granted full approval. If I were a betting man I would guess that the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine will never gain full approval

Is AZ still used in Africa - or anywhere (over 50's)? Much talk of it being the vaccine of choice for the third world. Although they weren't too keen on it prior to omicron (the world's best vaccine TM?) so it's probably all a bit moot now.If I were a betting man I would guess that the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccine will never be gain full approval
We are over 65's (and vunerable)
US is everyone I think. Sans coercion?
What about the EU?

I think this is an effect, but also the wider philosophical change that you no longer need to soldier into work and get sent home for dying at your desk.
Now, a bit under the weather, work from home is perfectly acceptable.
Pre 2020, monster cold, temperature, coughing, phlegm literally falling out of your face... Hop on a packed commuter train, tube, bus, into the office, and happily infect everyone en route.
That in and of itself will be significant I'd imagine. If there's some long term herd immunity that we lose, who knows... But laws of unintended consequences can always apply!
There is no real evidence that this actually happens. Go back to Covid 2020, I can tell you of many stories where wives or husbands “had Covid” but never passed it to their spouse. Or children to adults or vice versa. I think this “infectiousness” is a bit of a myth. Now, a bit under the weather, work from home is perfectly acceptable.

Winter comes, we all are more unhealthy, our immune systems are compromised, we are all more susceptible. That’s it in my opinion.

And 8,000 IU Vitamin D daily.
Absolutely. I don’t take that much but 50mg vitamin D, eggs for breakfast and I can’t remember the last time I was ill. I see my family’s kids weekly, I go to pubs, gyms, clubs, public transport, nothing has changed. And 8,000 IU Vitamin D daily.

Pretty much all Covid vaccines were granted standard approval over 12 months ago in the EU.
The AZ wasn’t. That’s been banned across Europe for a while. 'COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca received a conditional marketing authorisation valid throughout the EU on 29 January 2021. The name of the vaccine was changed to Vaxzevria on 25 March 2021.The conditional marketing authorisation was switched to a standard marketing authorisation on 31 October 2022.'
