I still do not know what EU red tape we will cut first to allow UK PLC to prosper? I suggest the fishing quotas will not give us the upper hand, but EU red tape has been 'holding the UK back for years....'
VAT rates.
Tax breaks for specific business areas
Regional government grants
Direct trade agreements with China and a few other small countries
Preferential visas for skilled foreign workers

We could also consider our approach to intellectual property and digital regulation, both of which need rapid, decisive responses that the EU continues to struggle to provide.

I'm sure many businesses that wish to trade globally and encourage inward investment would be glad for a few tweaks.

Similarly, businesses that only wish to trade within the UK (for instance those that supply UK domestic electric installations) may be happy not to have to submit to European regulations that are not necessary for their work. Having rejected 'European bureaucracy' I sincerely hope that subsequent governments learn the lesson and dial back the red tape a little.

But, that's just off the top of my head.
Your obviously a fisherman, did you hear the pound has collapsed

Please can someone answer my question:

What EU legislation are we going to change first to allow the UK to prosper and grow?

Many thanks
Top of my head ... Fishing quotas in UK waters?
What proportion of GDP is the fishing industry?
Well it isn't much now. A few decades ago it was much, much, bigger.

I wonder why....
Yep, let's all be fishermen. People forget that services and the financial services industry in particular is what holds up the UK.

Most other industries are tiny in comparison.
Count me in being a fisherman. Will they get massive grants to start up again in the same way they got massive grants to give up? win win win win.

Um, one small question, who are they going to sell all the fish to?

What will you do if the leavers win again? Would you accept another leave win?
I'm going to go with yes, yes and no.

Which begs the question. Why vote Tory when you knew they were going to have an EU referendum? Perhaps your noted arrogance persuaded you that the nasty, thick, deluded idiots wouldn't win it. Oops.

So cut taxes and increase grants - a magic money tree? Direct trade agreements with China who make things, not buy them? And we still bring in skilled workers to replace our own?
Hmm.

We're fked.

So go on then, educate us all, why is this all some kind of inward looking anti-immigrant plot.

It's just that you choose to see it that way isn't it?

Why is my list of international associations a joke? It is you who are accusing Outers of being inward looking and racist, I just showed you it isn't the case. What evidence would you give if you were accused of being an inward looking racist uneducated idiot? Or is it different for you?

One of my colleagues voted out, he is married to a woman from Taiwan.
A friend voted out, he used to do business in the Middle East.
Another friend voted out, he works for a German owned company and his extended family are back in Germany and they wish they could vote out!.
Another friend voted out, he has just returned from several years in Australia.

Go on, tell us all how they are racist inward looking morons!

I see, the bit where you said you're a "Tory wet" suggested otherwise. My mistake.

You can insult me as much as you like, I know this is just your online persona. I expect you're quite a pleasant person in real life.

I'm not offended as I don't fall into your target group but you most certainly are insulting those who disagree with you which seems to be a trend among many remainers this weekend. I don't have an issue with you putting your equally valid views across and you are indeed entitled to do what you feel to be correct but name calling is just childish. Prior to that post, you had been arguing your points well so don't stoop to name calling.

Yes, silly me, I forgot, only massive businesses matter.

Anyone stupid (and of course racist, xenophobic, elderly and uneducated) enough to work in a small or medium business just doesn't matter.

But, and you've just learnt this, they still have a vote.

Someone wanted an example of EU legislation - I gave one..

Sorry if peole don't think this is legislation worth the time of the day because it's not financial services related which for some on here makes them think tbey are more equal than others..

It was just an example...

P.s I have nothing to do with the fishing industry .... In fact my work is in financial services within the EU..

Oh dear.

Funnily enough our high tech and high value industries do very well in China, where Britain is still held in high esteem.
Similarly, our reputation in India means that some of their brightest are strangely keen to come here to work.
Tax rates changes for specific businesses can be neutral, particularly where they encourage strong investment.

But you're right of course. There is absolutely no way to stimulate an economy at all. We're helpless and can do nothing.

The guy is hilarious. All this talk of point scoring is a bit weird though. I think he's trying to win something, but I'm not sure what confused

Perhaps he just enjoys being pilloried on here every night?

Why does it need to be a robust debate ?

Your vote was worth something , your opinion is worthless.

The people had a free vote and we are where we are .
