That last sentence sums up the vast majority of modern politicians. Becoming an MP has become little more than a conduit to power, influence and money both inside and outside the HoC.

Have to agree with Julian. BJ the greatest PM since Churchill. A man who lead the Tories to a massive victory against a charismatic Labour leader. Who delivered the best brexit deal ever before guiding us through CV19 with decisiveness. A man of the highest moral and personal standards who would have lead the party to further massive victories if he had not been caught eating cake on his birthday.

The members then choose the great orator Liz. Who's radical economic plans would have revived the counties economy in days. Again she was well ahead in the polls and would have lead the party for decades if lefty fund managers had not conspired against her.

Not we have the new chap who has wasted all the great deed of his 2 predecessors and the substantial poll lead they had built up.

I think you are spot on but you actually forgot one of his greatest moments. He gave advice that will echo for years
It was to buy a new kettle. Whenever I go into Currys I always look over to the Kettle display and smile at the memory of Mr Johnson's excellent advice

Eh? By definition you become an MP because you want power and influence and money. Been true since 1215. If you want an strong voice in how the country is run, becoming an MP is one of the major paths.

Winston Churchill became an MP because he wanted influence and power. So did Bevan, or Disraeli, or Liz Truss.

I had not heard that. I assume BJ was not sure how many kettles he owned. Or that might have been children. They are easy to confuse.

It's here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BaiSVlyWfY

It's probably one of the greatest bits of practical advice ever given by a Prime Minister.
Notice he doesn't steer people to a particular brand he just gives the excellent basic advice

She shared a platform with a convicted far-right criminal and didn't utter a single word whilst he called another far-right convicted criminal a "hero".

Give your head a wobble.

He doesn’t care about such things… neither do the Tory party.

Corbyn enjoyed catered lunches with Hezbollah and most of Labour are at pains to agree Hamas are terrorists - even taking millions in donations from some lunatic who sees them as freedom fighters.

Just seen his "source"...

It's as reliable as an old Fiat.

Shows their desperation, rather than trying to defend the Tories... they're trying to do anything, anything, they can to compare anyone else to the Tory stshow.

What a strange reply. Unless its a deep fake, which I doubt, then are you refuting a video clip of them actually saying it?!

What has this got to do with Truss? Does that make what she did OK?

The ‘but Corbyn’ is the default trope to attempt to negate any criticism… the usual sign that a point has been lost.

What does any of that have to do with your cheerleading for Truss?

She shared a platform with a convicted far-right criminal and didn't utter a single word whilst he called another far-right convicted criminal a "hero".

Why are you supporting her?
