I wish people would stop using soft and hard Brexit.

The basic option is stay a member of the single market or leave the single market.

The EU already told us we cant stay members of the single market and end free movement, end ECJ jurisdiction and do our own trade deals, so that's out as they are red lines to both Labour and Conservatives.

The only game in town is agreeing the exit terms and an FTA, or WTO with no agreement. The EU and UK don't want the latter.
100% this.

Similar to the way in which large sections of the print media brainwash old, white, often overweight and sad, men.

There are loads of threads about Corbyn and his position - my point is any criticism from the Conservative party is hollow if they formalise a working relationship with the DUP.

You must have missed the last decade in Northern Ireland, all these groups have been finding a way to work together. Hopefully the current impasse can be resolved and they get back to doing this again.

There is a fairly significant difference between working with all sides of the divide in Northern Ireland to fashion a lasting piece and using this tin pot bunch to prop up your government.

I can't see any sensible Tories putting up with it, once the dust settles.

Corbyn was effectively an IRA supporter / sympthaiser. No idea why you'd try and imply he was simply a neutral observer only interested in peace?

My reply was not making a comment about Corbyn beyond the fact that any Tory criticism of Corbyn is hollow if they use the DUP in this way.
My comment above was in reply to the pictures of both sides together that were posted.

As a Tory do you not feel ashamed to be working with them in this way?

I wonder who can disagree with this opinion:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun...

This comment too:

Everybody in their (working ) life has had the misfortune to come across at least on one occasion somebody with the Maybot characteristics:

  • a public carapace of apparent competence concealing innate vanity;
  • unbridled but hidden over ambition which in reality exists in inverse proportion to their true capability;
  • saying little to express their true feelings and mostly only to brown nose their way up the greasy pole by ingratiating themselves with their superiors;
  • when reaching a position of authority and power, acting in off hand and ignorant condescension to those around and below.
Inevitably they are found out, often too late when the effects of their failings become all to the surface

May is just another political mediocrity once again providing proof of the Peter Principle.

It's certainly far from ideal, but certainly far better than the alternatives.
