Excellent that you recovered quickly.

It's a shame that the nation didn't use the pandemic to truly change there diet, get more exercise and be positive.

Had we done so (instead of the government actively promoting the opposite) im certain the pandemic would've been a non event.
So now diet and exercise can prevent someone catching a viral disease?
Not just now. This has always been true.

Good diet and exercise both contribute to a healthy immune system.

yes

See also: %age of covid hospitalisations with low vit D. Think one study showed it around 80%, but I can't recall the details.

Terminator was always going to be fine. I treat comments like "I decided not to get covid and lo! it was so" with a healthily raised eyebrow (but not dismissed out of hand). Maybe he didn't notice hehe Or maybe he needs to be studied smile

Maybe I caught it and didn't even notice.

Swatted it like a fly!!

Ask not what the NHS can do for you, ask what you can do for the NHS.

And the best thing you can do is not use it. Don't go near the thing.

Take responsibility for your own health and well being.

We all know that 90% of people are suffering from self inflicted illnesses due to there lifestyle.

Concentrate on the really ill people who have to use medical treatment through no fault of there own.

People who have a chocolate muffin and red bull for breakfast then waddle to Greggs for lunch I'd stop em using the NHS. It's a self inflicted choice.

Well, that was the thing wasn't it? A large number of people would catch it and not even know they had it?
Which made a vaccine passport built upon vaccines that didn't stop you catching or transmitting it seem a bit redundant, but hey, that budget needed to be used...

Work colleague this morning, through rasping hacking coughs and sharp pained intakes of breath - "yeah, I think cough hack bark that I've caught wheeze Covid again cough cough, but it's okay long pause to recover I've had about a million jabs, so coughing fit I'll be okay... wheeze"

Meanwhile I have the slightest hint of a scratchy throat, feel otherwise fit and raring to go. My other multiply jabbed friend can barely lift his head off the pillow. Virus gonna virus, and for me anecdotally it does appear to be the repeated frequent flyers and free donut with every sixth jab recipients who are hardest hit by this latest iteration of the coof. All the filthy unvaxxers I know who have contracted it, have had similar to me - a slightly scratchy throat for a few days, and nothing further.

At this point people are so indoctrinated and far down the rabbit hole that they are unable or unwilling to countenance the fact that their season ticket on the jab train at best makes their symptoms slightly less serious, but at worst actually makes them more likely to contract Covid, and anecdotally worsens their symptoms.

Ah well. No Biggie. Line up line up citizens for your next booster of the Safe and Effective.

IIRC work on looking at the impacts of good/bad gut biome is also showing the importance of good diet in maintaining health across the body, not just in the gut itself.

The Whole thing was farcical.

My lad had it, he had no idea. Only found out as he had to have a test to go back to school, for the test he travelled to school with his mates, waited in a queue in a crowed hall with his mates, hung around in town for a bit then came home on a crowded bus. He was told to stay off, all his friends/contacts carried on as normal.

When I caught it (after I think I'd had at least one jab) I think I caught it when I went to a theatre that had masks, passes etc. etc.

Wife and 75yo FIL also caught it. We've all had worse colds, the kids didn't get it and I don't think No.1 daughter has ever had it.

Absolutely.

I myself used it and most importantly sheer force of will to avoid it.

I had total belief in myself and my ability not to catch it.

You'd be surprised what you can achieve if you truly and Absolutely believe.

I don't "Think" I can do something, I don't " try" I don't hope.

I know.
This is fantastic! (Quite literally!!) biggrin

Does this work for cancer too?

How about flying? Have you tried jumping off a very tall building with your arms outstretched? "You'd be surprised what you can achieve if you truly and Absolutely believe."laugh

Being fit and healthy won't necessarily stop you catching it, but it can help fight it, no?
I am sure it will, but to say the pandemic may have been a non event if people exercised more is honestly laughable.
Everyone else has already said it. But yes...if the general population weren't so fat and/or had such a terrible diet we would almost certainly be in a better place. I'm not just talking Covid BTW, I mean health care needs in general. It really should have been a wake up call to so many people, yet we still see the fatties with their face masks in late '23.
I honestly don't get it.

To be fair, we're talking predominantly about the over 80 cohort, and pretty much universally the over 60s which were affected by covid. Not all that much scope for peletons and 5k runs really

Trimming up a few fatties in their 30's wouldn't have made a noticeable difference overall IMO. Although agreed that it would have been a far better tactic for them than Etsy face masks

Possibly vitamins and gut health could have played a part though. Vitamin D in particular should have been popped like candy, rather than Matt Hancock saying "move along, nothing to see here"

It isn't just peletons and 5k runs. Walking, swimming and even just being outside socialising can work wonders for old people. Sitting in front of the TV scared witless can work a different sort of wonders.

Which is the conclusion I came to early on and haven't changed: even if Covid 19 was a particularly strong cold no response at all would have been better than the response we had.

The flying bit is for R Kelly.

People who stuck by UK Covid rules have worst mental health, says survey

article said:
They identified that people with “communal” personalities – who are more caring, sensitive and aware of others’ needs – adhered the most rigorously with the lockdown protocols that Boris Johnson and senior medics and scientists recommended.

However, people with “agentic” personalities – who are more independent, more competitive and like to have control over their lives – were least likely to exhibit those behaviours.

“The more individuals complied with health advice during lockdown, the worse their wellbeing post-lockdown,” concluded Dr Marley Willegers and colleagues.

The fear of catching Covid proved both an upside and a downside, they found. “While increasing individuals’ worry of infection can effectively drive compliance, it also has negative consequences on people’s wellbeing and recovery,” they said.

I see fake sage are on Twitter asking followers to fill in a questionnaire for them. They are an odd bunch that were screaming for more restrictions most of the time.
There are an enemy of the general public.
