Not sure whether to laugh or cry. It’s both pathetic and sad.

Just looking into doing a transatlantic trip next year - it’s no joke. There’s atleast one set of irresponsible parents on that boat.
I agree lets hope they all arrive safely, a west to east transatlantic crossing at this time of year in a 48footer is no easy trip. IMO its foolhardy.

What does a transatlantic skipper and crew look like?

This perhaps

The Tracy Edwards documentary the other night was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. I'm glad Greta is on a boat with some women though. There are some PHers who wouldn't have slept a wink if she'd been on a boat with men only. They were so concerned about her. rolleyes

Greta - hope you're aware, the N Atlantic at this time of year? Treacherous! You might truly find out the meaning of 'climate'!

It was a fascinating documentary. Made me feel very old, though! I remember seeing the news coverage at the time.

She wants to do it, let her do it. If they get in trouble then no fossil-fuelled vessels should assist her, though.

Greta has told us that we should listen to the scientists. Meteorology is a science. Her parents, handlers and supporters have told her that she can walk on water.

I watched it. Amazingly driven girl and crew.

We are having a talk by one of the team Ineos AC guys in a few weeks. We see them training in the bay. Awesome machines.

It’s entertaining that so many guys want to waste their lives trying to criticise a 16 year old.

More entertaining is that so many idiots are wasting their lives following the pigtailed mouthpiece.

So basically she is a good marketing opertunity for a company's like the one who built the boat. Companies that build play things for rich. People who individually have a massive carbon impact in their lifetimes, a factor of thousands compared to your average person.

Pleasure boats like that will have quite a significant carbon footprint. I bet per person per mile traveled a good few time that of flying. And if Greta had a brain she would know this. They are not used to deliver your bananas from the other side of the world.

One hopes there is help available for a child who suffers from Asperger's and is triggered by the adults who stole her childhood. Or is maybe triggered by the adults who have told her that adults have stolen her childhood. It seems complicated.
