Taking the knee

What’s the roll of the eyes for.
If taking the Knee is intrinsically linked to the BLM group that the booers were booing why wouldn’t they boo the players that take the knee in the example above?
Because you are talking in circles. You just don't get it, why BLM is so disliked. Which is because you have a deep desire to find racism in people. Quite sad really. If taking the Knee is intrinsically linked to the BLM group that the booers were booing why wouldn’t they boo the players that take the knee in the example above?

I’m pointing out the logic fail in some people’s arguments on here not calling them racist.
Do i think some of the booers at the football were racist, yes, football has a bit of an issue with racism unfortunately.
But I’m not calling anyone on here racist so stop trying to insinuate that I am.

No I’m not. You keep saying im trying to find racism, you’re reading that because you want to.

People talk about dog whistle racism.
This is dog whistle virtue signalling.

Does anyone think that a racist is going to watch some random footballers get some grass stains on their knee and have an epiphany that tomorrow he/she must behave less racist?
No. In reality, by taking the knee and, in the eyes of many, siding with BLM will make many people more opposed to the very thing the gesture was supposedly trying to raise awareness for.Does anyone think that a racist is going to watch some random footballers get some grass stains on their knee and have an epiphany that tomorrow he/she must behave less racist?
Never mind, the club and the association have ticked a box. High 5s all around.

You make a good point.Does anyone think that a racist is going to watch some random footballers get some grass stains on their knee and have an epiphany that tomorrow he/she must behave less racist?
It seems to me that issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc are actually less of an issue than they have ever been.
Personally, I don’t really care how people define themselves, how they chose to dress, lead their lives etc
My children are completely oblivious to most of it as they are young. Last year my child’s primary school issued a load of nonsense related to the BLM protests. My response was that I would not tolerate any of this nonsense being taught to a 6 year old child on the basis that they are effectively introducing a bias that currently doesn’t exist.
As much as people might feel that they can immediately eliminate racism, no amount of self righteous lectures will have that effect.
In reality, racism is eliminated by generational change.
The current trend of shouting down people with unpopular views, sometimes perceived as racist, transphobic etc, doesn’t fix the issue. Instead it drives it underground and perpetuates the ‘us and them’ culture.

Id say it seems better than when i was growing up 80’s/90’s but it does appear to be getting steadily worse.

It might be possible that the the reason hate crime figures are on an upward trend is because of the wider issues mentioned in my post..

Turns out when you just tell people that they are wrong they tend to disregard your views.

It has a worrying creeping brief, too. Social media is toxic. The police treating it as gospel doesnt help

But yes There will be all sorts of reasons including what you say and also including things like Brexit.
The problem they have created is that they can't stop kneeling. If they stop kneeling it must mean that racism has stopped. As it goes on more and more players will be wanting to stand and at what point do you stop kneeling. There is no target or goal to aim for. If you don't have a fixed target then you can never achieve your goal.
