I know politicians often evade questions because they don't want to answer but it is usually a complex question. This was one very simple question, yet she still couldn't answer it and had to resort to attacking the interviewer instead. She constantly beggars belief in how inadequate she is.

Would tomorrow's headline be 'Abbot will deport millions of illegal immigrants' or 'Abbot will let illegal immigrants stay in UK'? - can't see much wrong with the former and the latter would create a ste storm, so can only surmise it's that one and she's trying to hide it, in the absence of any clarification from her. Well, either that or she has no clue - which couldn't possibly be the case for the nations Shadow Home Secretary surely... :scratchchin

That was excrutiatingly squirmingly embarrassing. It ';s not that she wouldn't answer, it's because she just doesn't know but does know that if she admits it she has no future. I can't believe the party values her contribution, they must be aware she is a drag anchor. They must be thinking 'give her enough rope and she will go of her own accord'.

Really surprised that no-one is making more of the "prompting from just off camera" voice you could hear. Was no-one videoing it on their phone...

I don't think it was anybody prompting, it sounded more like another news crew just out of shot, or somebody in her crew talking on the phone during the broadcast.

Hope I'm wrong though.

Her favourite song:

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while
my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts I'd be thinkin'
I could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.
Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore.
I could think of things I never thunk before.
And then I'd sit, and think some more.
I would not be just a nuffin' my head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

I can understand why Amber Rudd had to go. But when you put Rudd and Abbott alongside each other, it seems extraordinary that one is in office, the other is not.

Actually, if you put a potato alongside Abbott, it would still be an unequal match.

However, my guess is she will still be elected next time around as the member for Hackney North and Stoke Newington!

So a potato wouldn't stand a chance unless it could be a yam, with attitude!

It's not quite so clear cut. If boundary reform goes through (and if the government survives Brexit that will be the next priority) The three seats of Thornberry, Corbyn, and Abbot will be consolidated into two. Interesting.

The way she speaks in interviews is like someone unused to having an ear microphone, with someone else speaking to her via it, always stalling for time to understand whats being said ' welllll.......I think...... that ....... maybe ....' .
I have heard her in real life, it is exactly the same. frown
I don't know exactly what people expect. It's like when a racing driver takes his helmet off and doesn't have much to say. Just because they are fast does not make them interesting. She knew all the right people, was the right colour, and has made a career from it, money for old rope. Unfortunately, in the sound bite age she is very exposed because the details really do matter now.

Ah, missed that.

Thornberry in another safe seat... as is Corbyn..... It will come down to best of three rock paper scissors.

...but only between Abbot and Thornberry. No way Corbyn is going to compete a tight seat - he'll bagsy the safest of the three.
