I've only had to pass through US immigration once but I had no complaints with them even with it being not long after Sept 11th and I've had harsher "interrogations" passing through security at Blackpool airport. I'm sure there are people who can cause you a problem and maybe these twits encountered one or maybe they were just pricks who failed the attitude test but how many hundreds of thousands of people pass through US immigration each year without problems? I would strongly suspect that is the norm.

Have to agree with Karak, in that I have never experienced any problems with US Immigrations and Customs having visited the US many times!

You write your te**o*ist message, save it as draft, but don't send it.

Your buddy, in another country, who has access to the same account, goes in and reads your/his 'draft' messages.

Thus, message is passed on, no email is sent, bang, boom, A*e*i*a is d*st*o*ed. M*ri**n M**ro* is dug up. biggrin

Remember, you didn't read about it here first. biggrin

I have entered the US at Atlanta, JFK, Detroit and LAX this year and had no problems at all. At LAX I was the only one in the queue and when I asked if I could duck under the tape he said it was ok and he was very amenable and helpful explaining how I could stay longer than 90 days if I wanted to. He was white, 30-40ish and a bit hard nosed looking and he asked me lots of q's and we he had stamped my passport we had quite a long and friendly conversation..... probably because there was nobody behind me and I had to wait a few hours for the San Diego flight...

Does one notice how this thread was going on in quite a civil fashion until ole' "Just Me" comes on board? Immediately called several of us "idiots", etc. He is so frisky coming off of a fresh ban. hehe

As for the woman ducking under the tape - really?? I've done that. Why go wandering around miles of deserted carpet to get somewhere that's 3 feet infront of you?
Because you are overtly displaying radical and dangerous free thinking and your passport isn't blue so that is a threat. wink

I have to say that I love the US. I will always go there for at least one holiday a year and the border muppets are a total irrelevance in contrast to the brilliant people you meet on the other side. As an Englishman there are fewer more welcoming countries.

Sadly, in the days of the old style UK driving license getting stopped for speeding was usually no problem as the policeman was mightily impressed that your license said you could drive a steam roller, plus they used to believe that the speed limit in the UK was 120. biggrin

I do tend to err towards the basic rule of never being more than a half day's drive to salt water as the further an American gets from the sea the more dangerously religous and mental they seem to become, along with stronger tendencies to mate with family members or livestock. It all gets a bit Norfolk quite quickly on such a large continent.

This sort of stuff really worries me.

I've been to the US 4 times without any issue at all, in fact a couple of times involved a brief laugh and a joke with the IO's, usually about my choice of destination city.

But... The last time I went, I went with my Polish girlfriend who has a 10 year visa, she got in fine, but what if they take a 'dislike for no reason' to her this time??

If stopped I can always do the 'Hugh Grant' thing, but if they start chatting to her and she comes across as all Sputnik-Commie-Red Army-Cuban missile crisis-FSO Polonez-Vodka-Kremlin-Iron curtain... They may well turn her right round and send her home "just because they can".

And that would be 2 weeks holiday and about £3000 down the pan as I doubt travel insurance covers entry refusal?

I'm bricking it already when in fact I should be exitedly looking forward to our holiday.

An asteroid could strike too, that is a possibility. wink

I really would like to go back there again (been a fair few times) but the discomfort of dealing with US Immigration is almost enough to stop me as there are other parts of the World which are so much more welcoming to enter.
Same here. Love the USA, but the immigration fellas are just too much. They almost ruined my first trip to the USA. Thankfully once outside I met the nicest trolly man who gave me a lil faith that Yanks weren't all aholes.

Let's see:
andymadmak idiotically insists that I sexed up a horrific news report by "making up" something that can be verified all over the web, ignoring the simple facts that the report was so heinous, no one could make it worse, and it would take an incredibly clairvoyant person to sift through trillions of possibilities and choose to make up something that actually *happens to be true*. Wow. Upon having these little things pointed out, he insists he knows me better than I do myself. Not idiotic? Maybe to you.

Jimbeaux - repeated ad hominem attacks, nauseating nationalism, poor grasp of other cultures or American foreign policy, insists on butting in and putting words in people's mouths, insists his worldview is the only correct one, and mocks anyone who thinks otherwise. And he is soooo very convinced about his blinkered views. Complains about other people while indulging in the same thing himself like a hypocritical schoolgirl. All wrapped up in poor spelling and toe-curling grammar. Idiotic? Indeed. I can't be bothered to sift through the thread(s) and quote and link everything, but there are plenty of examples within this very thread.

So, someone who does idiotic things, what do you call them? Idiots. Sorry for calling a spade a spade.

When was this 'fresh ban?' I seem to have missed it.

Butting in? Irony award! hehe

Poor grasp of our policies, other cultures, etc? Perhaps to you that means the same as one that diagrees with you? wink

So very convinced of my views? Irony award with a bronze star! rofl

"poor spelling"; "toe curling grammar"; are you for real? hehe

Are you at all aware of the frequency by which you perpetuate and enhance your "court jester" image with every foray into holier-than-thou prose? You are almost as bad as "You Have My Stapler" hehe

Amongst various lies and inaccuracies that you continue to perpetuate, I notice that you have not answered my question about the recent ban...probably because it's a figment of your imagination and you have been caught in another lie. Nothing new there. Now, I am bored of your petty bickering, so can we get back on topic? If you have something to add, that is.

I am bored. Can we get back on topic? Why were the Canadian girls not given sanctuary when they requested it? Was there an investigation, even? If so, what tests were applied and what standards were not met that allowed the authorities to return them to this household?
Back on topic? Until you derail it yet again, get nailed for it, then argue to get back on topic? Jester! hehe

Since you insist on devolving this thread to a bickerfest, fine. Let's get to the bottom of this.

You mentioned that I am back from a fresh ban.

So, when was I banned? Please, spill the beans. It's a simple question. Surely it can't be that hard for you to answer?

I am still here, still "arguing" supposedly. So, when did I do this breaking off? When?

Date, or link to post, please.

Or you can admit it was just a lie.

Small clue: Not that I remember disengaging abruptly from any discussion, but people do stop posting for a variety of reasons. They might be bored of the web in general and chosen to do something else, or they may be tired of the usual suspects ruining it once again, or they may have simply lost interest. Only one of them is due to being banned, and that is quite rare on PH.
