Oh, what!

"Only a fool breaks the two second rule!"

A devastating read, sandwiched between my two, perennial bedtime reads, Northanger Abbey and an autographed copy of The Six Million Dollar Man annual, 1975.

This is a great example of the crassness of the honours system. A system that honours people in the establishment, political donors and other sycophants. The Queen needs to act and overhaul the whole bloody system before it's diluted even more.
Quite. Fred deserved to lose it, hopefully this situation will open up the 'honours' system into the phonies and cronies who get them.

There was an interesting debate about this on the Politics show today, Dan Brown was on as the historical 'expert'. People losing their privilege for being tts is not new, it's only a knighthood, it's not a VC, it can be given and it can be taken away.
There was debate of re-evaluating why they are given and making the group smaller.

Britain suffers from a chronic backscratching crony culture which is absolutely not capitalism, obscene rewards for failure, bonusses for doing nothing, and undeserved honours, and this should be a first step in dealing with it. Whether the politicians actually have the moral fibre to do it remains to be seen. They still believe that casino banking generates wealth, whereas it is really just a fraud on the general population, and of course some of these bankers fund their party. It will go on, of course, but let's at least not pretend it isn't dishonesty.
yes
Nice summary.
I concur.

You must be reading a different edition from me, have you got the Nursery one, because I don't recall that tagline, which does sound a bit jejeune. However, if he is saying that you should let your engine warm up for two minutes before you drive off, I suspect that he is right, though the ecowarriors would disagree.
