That's a red herring. This is not a left/right issue and neither right or left wingers have a monopoly on insults, shouting or rudeness.

I did indeed read the above.

The problem is, that you don't even have the balls to stand by your misguided position.

Rather, upon learning that one of the posters has more experience of these things than you, you went into 'sorry boss, I didn't mean to offend' mode.

And still, you won't answer the question?

Do you, or do you not, find it acceptable to execute unarmed, wounded, neutralised opponents in battle?

Yes or no?

Should he have shot the Taliban chap, NO
Was it under circumstances where his mates had been dismembered and had body parts hung out of trees recently. YES
Am I bothered that he killed him. NO
Do I think we should have prosecuted him instead of making the video disappear NO
[/quote]

I thought I had answered your question on the post above which I know you read, so NO I don't think it's fine to do it, but I do think that the situation has to be looked at as the bigger picture, if you break into my house and beat me to death on purpose then it's murder, agreed.

The bigger picture here is that this marines pals have been killed and mutilated by the Taliban fighters with no regard for the Geneva convention, he's just had the st shot out of him by an apache gunship and if nursed back to health would be delighted to behead marine A on film for all to see, this is not some young conscript we are talking about but a fully radicalised Taliban fighter or enemy combatant as our allies would lead us to belive and the Geneva convention didn't apply when they were being renditioned to Cuba for a spot of torture.

Maybe he should have been given a medical discharge or something instead as I can't imagine this is very good for morale with currently serving marines in Helmand, oh and the marine who saved the footage must be very popular right now as well.

Anyhow I don't expect to change your mind ,nor am I trying to I don't feel the need to call you pathetic because you hold a different opinion either, I do object to you giving me personal insults for not agreeing with you though.

As misguided and unable to format correctly, why don't you pop yourself over to this thread and read the replies.

You may be enlightened.

Fear not, President Obama fully agrees with you, and he is going to close it within a year of taking office.

....The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction. There are many regional commanders who have stains on their souls and they are stoking the fires of hell for Saddam. He and his forces will be destroyed by this coalition for what they have done. As they die they will know their deeds have brought them to this place. Show them no pity.

It is a big step to take another human life. It is not to be done lightly. I know of men who have taken life needlessly in other conflicts, I can assure you they live with the Mark of Cain upon them. If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right in international law and ensure that one day they go home to their family.

The ones who wish to fight, well, we aim to please.

If you harm the regiment or its history by over-enthusiasm in killing or in cowardice, know it is your family who will suffer. You will be shunned unless your conduct is of the highest for your deeds will follow you down through history. We will bring shame on neither our uniform or our nation.
