Even with the edited addition in parentheses, it is a ridiculous thing to say.
Why?

Hysteria breeds further hysteria - and then bad things happen.

Those campaigning on both sides should have tried to calm the debate down a bit - instead of ramping up the fear factor more and more with each passing day.

They have a lot to answer for , in my opinion.
Because you were not talking about both sides, you were making political points against one side, one side you happen to disagree with, even though there is no substantial evidence, yet, one way or the other.
For fks sake, give it a rest. The referendum.......who gives a st right now? Take it somewhere else. Please.

People are now questioning whether the attacker acctually shouted "Britain First".
rolleyes

Obviously it's all a lefty conspiracy.
So far, it seems to be Britain First and Liberty GB who are spreading doubt about this, mainly because the first person quoted about it has a non-Anglo Saxon name.
Unfortunately for them, other reports also quote other witnesses with more traditional English names as also having heard it. (
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2016/jun/... )

It's not surprising they're coming under suspicion having recently announced that they'll be taking 'direct action's against elected politicians who happen to be Muslim.

Again not suggesting they're behind this attack, but they're putting daft ideas out there which could be picked up by the small segment of community who would actually act on them.

Smiler.

I did say it wasn't exclusive to "Leave". Yes - I did edit what I originally wrote but that was because I decided both sides have played their part in being irresponsible.

The whole "debate" has got out of hand. Indeed, I hesitate to use the word "debate" because it has mostly been two opposing sides ranting at each other and trying to spread fear.

Well done chaps.
With all due respect Eric, what is there to debate? I'm not looking for an argument with you or anyone but the "PH way" seems to be to dissect every post to to a forensic level & sometimes the original thoughts of the poster (however perhaps misguided) result in the hordes descending.

A crime has been committed & some people are now suffering to a greater or lesser degree so all I can offer is sympathy & good wishes to the victims. I don't think it's appropriate to air any other views at this time.

Awful, feel for her family.
My stance on Europe is different to hers but I respect her for having an opinion on the outlook for the country, many these days don't.
I do hope the news conference isn't to announce what I think it may be frown

Which reports are those? All I've read so far is that she has been shot, stabbed and the man was shouting "Britain First" so its quite clear why so much is being read into it.

Also, why are you so keen to profile the attacker? We have no clue about his background at this current stage.
Initial reports suggested that she'd walked into an existing argument between two men.

I don't think anyone is 'keen' to profile the attacker. They are just saying what appears to be the case. I've done the same. You can get an impression from age, appearance, what was alleged to have been said, etc. People don't act in a vacuum - they apply facts from previous events to try to fathom current ones. It's human nature.
I'm struggling to work out how it is possible to tell that someone has a long term mental illness, is a loner, hasn't taken their meds and all the other suggestions that have been thrown about from the way somebody looks and their age. This stereotyping of mental illnesses is pretty horrible.

I think some people are desperate to distance themselves from this man incase it emerges that he shares the same political views as themselves.

There we are preaching to America about guns and then this happens.
Truly shocking.

Agree totally. Good economic debate ahs been lowered into politicising and finger pointing - on BOTH sides.

Regarding Jo Cox, this is an affront to democracy imho

This is an isolated incident.
America has this happen daily.

This is all just bloody awful.

I desperately hope we can all just put politics to one side for a little while now and remember we don't know anything about it - just rumour and hearsay.

Every thought with the human that has been hurt gravely, the husband whose wife is in danger and the poor wee bairns, who will be confused and terrified right now. Just horrifying.

I appreciate that but less than a week after Orlando.
Question is, where has he got a gun from?

If he didn't actually shout "Britain First", then Angela Eagle will have some very serious questions to answer.

Telegraph quoting that it was some sort of home=made firearm... Says all you need to know about the shooter if he's stupid enough to use something I imagine to be cobbled together.
A home made multi shot pistol sounds pretty complex to cobble together.
Eye witness said it was a single-shot weapon that the man had to reload before each shot.

Hope the poor lady pulls through.

Surely if he had to reload three times someone would have tackled him. Unless it is the norm now to stand by filming so as to be the first to post to Facial Book.
