"we should assign greater weight to the opinions of the 18-24 year olds!" Screams my outraged facebook feed.
After all, look at every well-run organisation, company and country - who do you find at the top, using their superior judgement to make good decisions?
Correct! The 18-24.
Yeah, but voting is heavily skewered towards old people because you have to leave the house and vote with pencil & paper at the polling station, instead of just clicking "Like" on Facebook. It's not fair that young people have to register to vote in order to vote. I mean old people aren't even on Facebook! After all, look at every well-run organisation, company and country - who do you find at the top, using their superior judgement to make good decisions?

Sadly I think this situation obviates the need for a viable plan in order for the Scots to leave now.
They are gone, regardless.
A sad unintended consequence of a good development. But you cant argue with giving the people what they want, and that's what they want.
I've had the same feeling, but I can't see anything happening too soon and hopefully the pot will go off the boil. They are gone, regardless.

I'll ad her family with British Passports have said to me how gutted they are as it will effect them if they want to work and travel around the EU
But is that a good reason for staying in? To satisfy personal work and travel experiences of a small amount of people who want to work in Europe? Even more ridiculous to satisfy Australians and others who've managed to get British passports through descent etcsunbeam alpine said:
Had dinner with friends in Brussels yeaterday, and it was a very interesting discussion. There was a sense of amazement and disappointment that the UK is leaving.
I've worked in Belgium previously, it's not without it's problems. In most respects Britain is a far more consumer oriented country, and also a lot more free and efficient in terms of things like industrial relations/HR etc. We are far more American than all of Europe, I think that's why we can still be a huge success without the EU, and I'm not sure the EU gets that. (Of course that success looks a bit far off now, after discovering the metal of the average young person who seems full of entitlement)TheGuru said:

Most parents of youths and Uni students I know are pleased if their kids get out of bed of a day, and the thought of them upping stciks and moving to Italy to forge a career is laughable.
Some will, but most will never even have considered it.

Peter Shore (Old Labour),1975.
OMG, they don't make them like him anymore!
Bloody Hell! A coherent, passionate politician, who argues, using reason and fact, for a cause he believes is right.[url https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j-Gb8Pk2Pk&fe...

Where has his like gone? didn't see anything like that from either side this time 'round!
(and he didn't need an Autocue! )
Unfortunately, these politicians haven't existed since Blair. Or more accurately they have, but are not allowed to progress up the slippery political ladders controlled by the career politicians that infest Westminster. As much as I could never vote for Corbyn, his rise to lead the Labour party has been a buck to modern day politics as the unintended consequences of Miliband playing with the voting procedure for Labour leader played out. And I applaud him for getting to the top.
We need less 'career' politicians and more politicians of conviction from across ALL politics to stand up and give the electorate some real choices.

Nicola bd Krankie
im Scottish and she's just getting embarassing, even when she kept on bringing up the Scottish referendum during the Eu referendum she was,as some politician put it the other day,'miopic',she's just obsessed about Scottish Independence. She is much more "polished" now but the same myopic point of view.
She is just another politician who wants to go into the history books as a modern William Wallace FFS!
He had a just cause and died for it in the end - old Nicola has no such motivation except the usual politicians ego and self profiling.

Well, it is their raison d’être I suppose; just a shame that they couldn't come up with a viable plan on how to do it for the past eighty years. They are gone, regardless.
A sad unintended consequence of a good development. But you cant argue with giving the people what they want, and that's what they want.
Salmons and Sturgeon couldn't convince the majority to break away when they could use/employ the whole range of different reasons and arguments. Now they'd be having a referendum solely on whether we should stay in the EU!? No chance.
What Sturgeon and the SNP consider to be important is very very different from what we the people consider.
No chance.

I suspect the traffic is far more the other way, as our youth unemployment rates are so far lower than in most Eurozone countries.
Well there are certainly a lot of Europeans working in England in decent jobs, the reason being is that they can't get ahead in their own countries. Places like France are terribly old-fashioned and stuffy. Career progress is based on length of employment and titles, not on ability. Very hierarchical and rigid organisations. It's even worse in Greece and Italy when you add the laziness, mysogyny and corruption into the mix. Little fluidity to the job market, little innovation, little entrepreneurship. I mean it's unheard of for people to change careers in their 30/40's for example.Edited by TheGuru on Saturday 25th June 15:27

And she'd been an MP for only 13 months, so we'll never really know how able & honest she was. All part of the tragedy.

Watchman, when you say how your Eastern European friends voted, what were the criteria for being eligible to vote? UK citizens or just registered here for a certain time? Or married to UK citizens? Genuine question.
What you say is interesting as my mate's wife is from CZ and has a face like a wet weekend over it all....but has been here 20 years, has a UK passport, 2 kids and just one elderley relative back in CZ? Not sure how she can be worried about anything tbh.
I have no idea. I never even thought to ask. They all own homes here, work and pay tax, so although they aren't naturalised like my wife, appear to be eligible o vote regardless. Good question - I'll ask them when we see them again.

My german friends and work colleagues were shocked that the uk would self-harm to this extent.
I explained that it was mostly thick people who voted for exit, and that they always have had a persecution complex regarding mainland europe.
We see no immediate change in the short to medium term, but long term investment in the uk now has an additional hurdle to overcome.
The uk looks like a stroppy teenager doing a massive flounce because she can't have those new high heels.
You Sir are a complete idiot. How long would our country have to bang it's head against a brick wall before you would consider that EU reform is impossible and therefore fundamentally incompatible with the wishes and aspirations of the UK? I explained that it was mostly thick people who voted for exit, and that they always have had a persecution complex regarding mainland europe.
