I think the problem is people simply can't look at things objectively i.e. Farage says some sensible stuff sometimes, but there's the side of him that you see in that interview that seems massively hypocritical and intolerant.
I can see that, but so many seem unable to acknowledge that there is that side of him.

It serves two purposes: Firstly, it heads off the accusation that metro elite hand wringing liberals like me like to bandy about that UKIP fanbois are a bit under educated (fail on that one, obvs) & secondly it helps us to stop laughing at you when I cast my mind back a week or so when you mocked another poster & gleefully egged on your kippy mates too, for spelling 'ridiculous' 'rediculous'.

As you say the media coverage is likely different depending who it is but from a quick Google most of the headlines seem to be around UKIP type parties.
It would be good to know if any other UK MEP's are implicated.

NRS makes a good point - were any other MEPs investigated for similar abuses of the system?.
Also, does anyone know how the investigation was started? Was it triggered by a complaint or the EU's own decision.
