But....you said with conviction that they use frozen pizzas because you used to deliver them.

His facts actually contradict you.

His "facts" are no such thing. They're not made fresh on site like he claims when half of it is coming frozen on the back of a truck.

I always got the feeling the Pizzas are freshly cooked, especially as my wife always tends to have very specific requirements with any food order, to the point where I am not allowed to order via just Eat or whatever, I have to speak to a person and convey her complex order.

Fond memories or Pizza Express, kids always loved it for a birthday or whatever, never had any issue with the food, as Pizzas go they are decent enough, generally better than the doughy stuff from the local Kebab establishments, the Frozen ones are a bit better than average but a bit pricey at full price, will pay £2.50 but not worth 4/5 quid, tend to find I have to add some stuff as well.

I think Nandos does well as its spot on between fast food and a restaurant, price and experience wise, the food is always pretty decent, do one thing and do it well.

Our local PE is under pressure from a couple of smaller chains, one called "Wood Fire Smoke" which is quite good and another called 900 degrees which we havent tried, the former is unlicensed but can take your own booze, they just charge corkage, its a lot cheaper, Pizza is probably better I would say as well, much smaller with a better ambience.

Im not sure if this was aimed at me but I never said any thing about fresh.

All the dough is frozen as a ball. If you delivered boxes of frozen items to Pizza Express you would have been delivering the dough ball's use to make menu items.

The pizzas are made onsite. You can see them make them. But the dough is defrosted.

The amount of salt and sugar in the dough is crazy !

All these people saying its expensive have never bothered with the Meerkat 2for1 or O2 Priority 2 mains for £10 deals.

Good value for a chain restaurant
and if you use neither?

Many haven't got time to mess around with deals in any case. It seems expensive to me because that is what the menu looks like if I turn up looking for a meal.

Kinda killed themselves selling their own pizzas from Tesco. Saves me going out and burning money on stupid priced drinks. Bad move was that.
Can't even compare PE in the supermarket to the restaurants.

that method could be expanded to just about any restaurant food though, but yet somehow, restaurants have survived despite the fact they are inflating the cost of the ingredients by about 900% over what you could pay to make the same thing at home.

I'd be sad to lose Pizza Express for many of the same reasons others have brought up here. It offers nothing particularly special but you know what you are going to get, it is cheap, you can get it for under the meal allowance cost for most businesses if you are away with work and don't want to just sit in the hotel wking over their crappy wi-fi.

Would be a shame as its the only pizza place, I have found outside of NewYork that understands what a thin base is.

OT, but can I just say that if you have never had a pizza from Baz and Fred at Flatiron Square in London SE1, then you have never had a pizza.

Only Franco Manca comes close. That, or going to Naples.

Eh ? confused.
Less than 15 seconds on your smartphone.

Google "Pizza Express deals" and show the code. Go on try it now.

Is that too much messing about in your life ?
It takes longer to post on here and doesn't save a large chunk of your overpriced bill.

I used to find pizza express quite good for what it was. If you had a good one locally they were generally consistent and you always knew what you were going to get.

Latterly the pricing was high to the point where I'd only go if I had a voucher deal, albeit seldomly, and only ever for a 'utility' meal if going to the cinema or something afterwards

You don't frequent PE, fine, you're clearly not the target audience if you can make something 'infinitely better for a fraction of the price'.

Same here, but also there is the unreliability of the quality which mainly seems to be down to location.

Some PE locations the food is precisely what it should be, with an O2 voucher, a decent pizza for £5. However at other locations the food is absolute crap even for that price.

I find that it’s hard to match with he power of a commercial oven in a domestic setting. Unless you possess a proper pizza Oven....

Even with a fancy gaggenau oven equipped with a baking stone , I max out at 280 centigrade - not hot enough for proper pizza finish. I have daughters with allergies to dairy so I’ve no choice but to make them at home from scratch.

On the subject of pizza express, I’ve seen the chefs hand shape and form all the orders as they come in. I know this as I asked one of them
To teach me how to form and hand stretch them properly at home!

Go somewhere else.

Meal for 2 including 2 x soft drinks for £17 isnt bad
