I'm not sophisticated enough to drink whiskey! smile
I must be. VERY sophisticated then wink

Actually I don't drink Whiskey (Irish) I drink Whisky.

There is a huge difference between a cheap blended scotch and even a 20 quid malt
Given I hate all the whiskey/whisky I've ever tasted, but like the idea of liking Whisky, can you recommend a bottle of decent stuff for <30 quid that I will like, or mu money back?

It doesn't matter now anyway, the media have already moved onto the banning of shift work and night shifts etc because it causes cancer.

Try Highland Park - if you don't like that Whisky is probably not for you. (I have found HP to be the whisky that is most generally liked - I'm not saying it is the best whisky - my vote is Springbank for that)

Aberlour is a good beginners whisky - 'tis quite sweet and mellow.

Stick to something Speyside orientated and avoid the West Coast Malts, they can be very peaty and not to everyones taste......I'd recommend a 15 year old Glen Grant for a smooth, subtle taste
