Possibly THE stupidest thing posted on PH this year...

in the meantime...

http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/07/16/371556/isr...

"Ayelet Shaked of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party called for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to "little snakes."

"They have to die and their houses should be demolished so that they cannot bear any more terrorists," Shaked said, adding, "They are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers of the dead terrorists.”

The remarks are considered as a call for genocide as she declared that all Palestinians are Israel's enemies and must be killed. "

Thank You.

So someone looking through a telescope and kicking a ball about mistakes them for terrorists because they are confused? How is that even possible with the accurate weapons Israel has?
I have no idea but nor do you.

They may have identified a target near by and entered the incorrect coordinates in the targeting system. There may have been a miss fire. They may have hit there target and this set off munitions which killed the boys.

The sea caused haze which make identification difficult. There is some suggestion the boys where playing hide and seek, Which would look suspicious from a distance.

The Israeli sailor my have fired by mistake. Or he may have fire deliberately to kill the boys. We do not know.

War is confusing.
This is a sensible post and makes sense. It makes a change from the 'Israel can do no wrong' attitude some have on here. I don't think anyone on PH disagrees that Hamas should stop the rocket fire, but the facts are that Israeli solidiers, and innocent people (especially children) are dying needlessly, due to either deliberate action or the fog of war that you mention, and there seems no end in sight.
No one said Israel can do no wrong. I clearly stated a mistake may have been made. It would stand to reason that id killing everyone was their goal, the IDF would not have been dropping any warnings to begin with.
Let's say IDF stops the attack today. What are they to do if Hamas continues with the 100+ rockets per day into Israel? Give me your course of action.

A) You're quoting Press TV. Enough said.
B) The vast majority of ultra-nationalist Israeli politicians just do talking for which they often receive punishment in the courts. Same can't be said for extreme factions on the other side or the treatment that they receive.

I don't think it is unreasonable to think that the IDF are dropping leaflets as a publicity stunt to appease their western supporters and actually if they could they'd happily bomb anyone and everyone they could. Didn't Israel ban reporters last time?

I think its unreasonable to think that. As 63 pages of this thread shows, its not good publicity for the IDF when it does kill civilians and it does care about publicity. As for reporters, I reckon this has to be one of the most comprehensively covered conflicts. Plenty in Gaza and many covering IDF activity on borders and in Israel.

How many of the 500 and counting so far have been civilians? I'll make it easier, how many have been children?

There are many things that cannot be disproven. The burden of proof lies with those making assertions.

Not sure what they did/didn't do with reporters last time.

Re. children, if you're trying to say they target them on purpose, surely its as much of a valid argument to say that Hamas are using them as shields, threatening them / keeping them there. Looking at the evidence the latter makes more sense. Morally, an awful siutation though I actually saw a quote from international - UN + UK - law showing that if this is the case, legally at least, Israel is ok.

Don't get me wrong, this is an absolutely appalling situation but Israel has nothing to gain from killing civilians.

So how do you think will end up? If a few hundred Israeli's had been killed, and just a few Palestinians I do wonder if the West (mainly the USA really) would react differently.

Amusing to hear Obama talk about Russians supporting the separatists, just as well no-one else supports such groups. smile

Any thread about Israel always ends up the same way. The same Israeli apologists spouting the usual clap trap. I wonder how many of them are Jewish? I suspect all of them.
I've seen as much reason on either side of the argument in this thread, but its you that decides whats clap trap and whats not? And what difference does it make whether people are Jewish or not?

To be fair, there have been situations where Israeli soldiers have shot children, knowing they were children, and not been sanctioned in any way.
